Greg Gillis, better known as Girl Talk, is a musical genius. His incredibly unique style of taking hundreds of samples from a wide range of music and blending it into a seamless symphony of beautiful chaos. His most current album, 2010′s “All Day” was his best release yet, and left everyone wanting more from him.
Fast forward a couple a years, and the best thing going on with Girl Talk’s music doesn’t even involve Gillis. Girl Walk: All Day, a 70-minute long dance production set to the soundtrack of “All Day” is a visual representation of what makes Gillis’ music so amazing and transcendent. Shot guerrilla-style all across New York City by director Jacob Krupnick, Girl Walk: All Day is a modern opera, unfurling a story of love, loss and, ultimately, unity.
The video is a love letter to Girl Talk, to New York City and to humanity in general. Much like how Gillis shows that disparate, even opposing sounds can be brought together into something cohesive and more than the sum of its parts, Girl Walk: All Day shows us that the common bonds that we all share could make the world a better place, if we all just gave it a chance.
