Eminem : The Marshall Mathers LP 2, 8.8 out of 10 based on 203 ratings

During the 2013 MTV VMA's, Eminem announced the release of his upcoming album, MMLPII. It will be the sequel to his 2000 album, The Marshall Mathers LP. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be the rapper's eighth studio album by American rapper Eminem and will be released through Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records, and Interscope Records. Production for the album took place during 2011 to 2013, at several recording studios and was handled by various record producers, including himself, Rick Rubin, No ID and Dr. Dre. Royce da 5'9" appeared on RapFix with his group Slaughterhouse, on August 30, 2012, and talked about what he has heard of the album in the moment. Royce told: "I'm not so sure how the world is going to respond from some of the things that I've heard from him". He also noted that the things he has heard gave him nightmares. Needles to say, this is one of the most anticipated albums of 2013. Opinions have been split down the middle regarding the two first singles, Berserk and Survival. Listen to Survival below, which also features on the video game soundtrack for Call of Duty: Ghosts. The track list, which can be found below, reveals the album is going to feature Skylar Grey, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Nate Ruess.

Naming it MMLP2 is a very bold move. It’ll be interesting to see if it’ll live up to the first album.

that’s what I was thinking, if it does not live up to the hype and he ends his career after, it would be a terrible end to an otherwise legendary catalog. it almost has to be a classic if he’s going to name it after probably his best album. do you think he’s got one more classic album in him? Recovery was huge miss

        September 15, 2013 at 10:36 am

I think he does have at least one good album left in him, but I don’t know if he has one “quite that good” album left in him.

        September 22, 2013 at 6:46 pm

LOL, Recovery was a “huge miss”? You’re literally the only person I’ve ever heard say that. Relapse was utter garbage but Recovery was brilliant in just about every way. You can personally dislike something but to make the sweeping statement that it was a “huge miss” is just laughable. it was very well received and sold extremely well.

          September 23, 2013 at 10:24 pm

Recovery was sellout garbage with Eminem’s worst lyrics to date, Relapse was too advanced for stupid fucks like you to understand. There is a reason why Dre wasn’t featured much on Recovery, his production is too mature for little babies, only little babies use iTunes.

          • Transfixed
            September 24, 2013 at 7:15 pm

You’re a fucking idiot who needs to grow up. The reason Relapse didn’t do well was because it was SHITTY and way, way too dark. Why do you think he even apologized for Relapse on his next album? He admits that he let the fans down and that the album sucked. But YOU can’t admit it… good for you. And what the fuck does itunes have to do with anything? I’ve never even used it. Sounds like you have a lot of growing up to do, little boy.

            September 25, 2013 at 6:40 pm

If you are too scared of the darkness on Relapse then man up, this is reality, this is how Eminem really feels about himself and the general concept of the album is very original.
Recovery is just a collection of pop garbage that was manufactured for profit, hence why everything he does is promoting a video game now because the main demographic for profit now is between the ages of 9-17, so Eminem stepped away from rapping about his true feelings and wrote music that empowered middle class american white kids.
It’s the most sellout move i’ve ever seen from an artist which is why i’m worried about MMLP2.
Eminem only “apologized” for Relapse because the kids weren’t buying it, they wanted the pop melodies back and he wanted a new mansion. The minute he released his music it became public domain, it isn’t up to him whether it’s good or not, otherwise every album he made would have been a masterpiece.
You think Recovery is better because it outsold Relapse?
One Direction outsold Pink Floyd, money is no measure of anything these days.

          • Transfixed
            September 30, 2013 at 12:38 am

No, I didn’t say it was better BECAUSE it outsold Relapse, the opposite – it outsold Relapse because it was BETTER.
And it wasn’t better just because it was poppier, the songs were well-crafted, his skill was on display in a great way. It was honest and real, but in a more well-written, well-produced way. I can handle dark shit, but what I can’t handle is shit – that happens to be dark.

I would disagree just on the idea that it outsold Relapse because it was better. I agree that it was better than Relapse, but it outsold because Not Afraid and Love the Way You Lie were made to blow up the radio.

            October 30, 2013 at 6:29 am

Anyone who thinks Recovery is better than Relapse, must not be a fan real fan of Eminem, but pop rap music. In that case YES its better than Relapse.

          • stevenfrolke
            October 14, 2013 at 4:49 pm

The pop melodies ‘back’? Before recovery, Eminem has NEVER made any pop songs.
Relapse and Encore are received both by critics, and by the public very bad, just because they suck.
Recovery gets very different ratings (2,4 by Pitchfork.., a little exaggerated IMO), but most of the ‘old’ fans dislike recovery because Eminem has become a more mainstream rapper with songs like Love The Way You Lie, instead of being the Slim Shady, that doesn’t give a fuck and is a total different rapper than every other rapper in the game.
MMLP en The Eminem Show are the best albums ever made by Em, but Recovery certainly isn’t a bad one. I like Recovery, and I exspect MMLP2 to be a mix between Recovery and MMLP1: the ‘I-don’t-give-a-fuck’-lyrics from MMLP1, and the overall sounding of Recovery.

“Hi, My Name Is” and ESPECIALLY “The Real Slim Shady” were very poppy and catchy as hell. So was “Without Me”, and “Sing for the Moment”… for real. And “Just Lose It”. You can argue that a few of those were not pop songs, but you can not argue that NONE of them were.

          • stevenfrolke
            October 24, 2013 at 9:10 pm

Well, i give you that one. But still, the songs you name, maybe sound poppy, but are nothing like Love The Way You Lie, 25 to life, space bound (i’m not saying that those are bad songs). Real slim shady, my name is etc. sound a bit poppy, but the lyrics are not poppy and have a high dose of “i-don’t-give-a-fuck”

          • llama
            October 24, 2013 at 9:41 pm

Lyrics can’t be poppy. Pop is a genre of music, not of lyrics. Pop has been graced with some horrendous lyrics, as well as incredible lyrics, just as non-pop has as much bullshit surface lyrics as excellent stuff. I’d immediately argue that Love the Way You Lie has a much more important and poignant meaning than The Real Slim Shady. And Lose Yourself has the most generic, crap lyrics Eminem has ever done (along with Not Afraid).

I also think that Eminem has very obviously always given a fuck. Compare ANY of his mainstream stuff to all the stuff he did before that… his first three commercial albums were chock-full of “hey everybody, look at how many fucks I don’t give! I’ll tell you over and over that I don’t give a fuck, but clearly I do based on songs like Stan and acts like doing a publicity-full performance with Elton John!” I’m not bashing Em – I really like most of his stuff, and I find him to be a fairly fascinating person – but he’s most definitely always given a fuck.

We share the same favorite albums of his, though. Recovery definitely has a much more polished sound, but polished doesn’t mean poppy.

I didn’t say that the beats and hooks on Recovery are better than those on Relapse… I said that Recovery has the most polished sound to date, and that polished doesn’t mean poppy.

Sing for the Moment and Without Me were not really pop songs, Just Lose It was imitating pop songs, but yeah My Name Is and Real Slim Shady definitely were more on the pop side of Eminem

          • llama
            October 30, 2013 at 5:15 pm

“Pop” is an insanely vague and broad “genre” these days, and next to impossible to define. In my opinion, once a rap song can be viewed as “not *really* pop”, they get to go in that category ;) But really, genres – ESPECIALLY pop – are so subjective that everyone’s going to have a different idea of what qualifies and what doesn’t, unless they’re like Katy Perry or Lady Gaga :P

          • Kal Tourette
            October 30, 2013 at 6:34 am

They were CATCHY songs but not POP songs as they did not follow a pop formula of beat production. They were EMINEM popular song grabs but not the generic conforming ones otherwise he would have been sounding like Cash Money etc or No Limit etc. Eminem made EMINEM music and thats what we loved. he was so stand out and different. Then he lost it somewhere and got wicked rhymes still, lacks clarity now and poor music direction as it sounds like a parody of B.O.B mixed with a little Wayne…no pun intended

          • llama
            October 30, 2013 at 5:13 pm

It sounds like you’re throwing around terminology you don’t quite understand :P What exactly is a “pop formula” and a ” pop beat production”?

‘the ‘I-don’t-give-a-fuck’ lyrics from MMLP1 and the overall sound of Recovery’ will win Eminem a Grammy this year. No doubt about it.

            October 30, 2013 at 6:30 am

The sound of Recovery and the IDGAF of MMLP don’t mesh. Relapse is a far better album than Recovery as far as being an EMINEM album and not a white middle class Eminem.

          • Dominic Szigethy
            October 15, 2013 at 10:09 pm

a middle class white kid, and Relapse IMO was his 3rd best album, right behind MMLP and SSLP. I understand what you’re saying though, with SO many white kids it’s so much hype. Like OF, there are so many goddamn white girls between 13 and 18 who dont even know why they like a group as shitty as theirs, but they do anyway

Relapse was for the true hardcore eminem fans! I love every Eminem album that has been realeased. Relapse is amazing; it’s kinda like TMMLP1 with an awewome accent, it’s pretty much all about killing a raping bitches and other fucked up shit! It can’t get much more Eminem then that. I liked recovery as well, not as much but I still liked it. The thing I don’t like is how you have those little 12 year old radio faggots who claim they’re em fans when the only songs they’ve heard is his radio play like: not afraid, love the way you lie, I need a doctor ect. I have to admit his new single from TMMLP2 The Monster ft. Rihanna was a bit of a let down. However I do understand having popular radio tracks sell more albums, lets just hope the reast of his album is not like The Monster. I also think the fact that his newer stuff isn’t as good as his old stuff makes is orginal work so much better.

            - How do you know that’s how Eminem really feels about himself? He was in rehab when he wrote that album. You think he really feels that way about himself? As bad as he felt when he was in rehab?

            - Listen to the new songs. And most of the stuff on Recovery was not what you described – yes, Not Afraid totally was, but the rest of it wasn’t. Songs about Proof, about Kim, about drugs, depression, etc.

            - I don’t think album sales reflect how good or bad an album is. My ranking of his albums goes:
            1. Marshall Mathers LP
            2. The Eminem Show
            3. Slim Shady LP
            4. Infinite

            5. Recovery
            6. Encore
            7. Relapse

If we went by sales, it’d go:
            1. The Eminem Show
            2. Marshall Mathers LP
            3. Encore
            4. Slim Shady LP
            5. Recovery
            6. Relapse
            7. Infinite

Couldn’t care less how many albums sell; Recovery is a good album. It may not be amazing, but it’s good.

Real List Of His Best Albums In Order:
            -Marshall Mathers LP
            -The Eminem Show
            - Encore
            - Relapse
            - The Slim Shady LP
            - Infinite
            - Recovery
Marshall Mathers LP 2 will end up being his best album. Thats a prediction based off of his single Rap God.

Relapse was one of his best albums. It was one of the most original concept albums ever made, I could write a whole book of interesting facts about Relapse. It is only recieved as a his worst album by the idiot mainstream because he uses wierd accents on a bunch of songs, but that’s his underground album. People need to wake up and realize Relapse was the fucking shit. And so was Encore. How can you not love Encore? So what theres like 3 or 4 wack songs on it but the rest of them are greatest hits of his.

And as for the guy claiming he’s made a bunch of pop songs, your an idiot. He is a rapper. Even some songs that he fucking SAMPLED pop songs still aren’t pop songs. If the song can’t be considered a rap song in your eyes guess what it’s a genre of its own. That genre is called Eminem.

I am so sick of you fucking people who call artists sellouts. Unfortunately this is real life. I make my money sitting behind a desk. Artists make their money by making music that people want to hear, regardless if it is within their original style. Why is someone a sellout because he is giving people what they want? Why was Jay-Z called a sellout when he sold a million copies to Samsung for a 4 minute commercial? All you people need to understand that this is life and this is how it works. If you all still want to wear cotrise jeans or see women wearing tube shirts (so they can keep it old school) then I guess we are all sellouts. It’s called evolution.

Huh? I’m not just discrediting his opinion and replacing it with my own, what I say is backed up by reviews and sales. Relapse was almost universally seen as to dark, violent, depressing, and lacking in the usual high-quality Eminem songs, whereas Recovery was just the opposite. I don’t know what a “keyboard warrior” is, but I’m stating the facts.

Way too dark? So the song Kim, wasn’t way too dark? hell, the whole MMLP wasn’t way too dark? SSLP wasn’t way too dark? Eminem was known for his dark raps, you obviously are not much of a fan of his music or really followed his career. What were most of his songs about? Killing people, hating his mom, drugs, making jokes of gay people and then using it even more and said faggot more after they made a the gay pride club made a riot at him, talked about hating the government, the industry. Relapse portrays the ego he always stuck to being an evil motherfucker called Slim Shady/Eminem. If you call relapse a horrorcore i mean might as well called SSLP AND MMLP a horrocore too because it was the same intense violent, disturbing shit he had always made.He had his few real life songs like mockingbird, when im gone, toy soldiers etc etc but he wrote dark shit that came out from his imagination. Recovery was full of fucking pop love songs, literally. Last time I checked he was an interview when he was young and they asked him what are you gonna rap about when you can think of anything anymore? and he replied “gay love songs” [Recovery] The Hell Sequel was better than Recovery. Recovery was just to get some hype again which is why he put mainstream artists like wayne and rihanna in the album. Recovery was most likely pushed and forced by Interscope which why it sounds so much commercialized. Eminem never really had raps before that we’re alike to Recovery, songs on that album to him back then was he would say ” some gay faggot boy band shit” Relapse > Recovery. that’s all i wanted to say

He only said that about Relapse because of the shallow minded idiots that didnt grasp the genius on it so he needed to make more sales by catering to his NEW crowd…the shallow minded sheep that now get his more simplistic shallow topics. If MMLP was released in 2013 rather than 2002…it woulda been almost slandered by this new WAYNE age bullshit fans. Relapse in 2002 or earlier would have been GENIUS!!!!!

Thank you. Space Bound, Cold Wind Blows, Going Through Changes, Cinderella Man, 25 to Life, Almost Famous, Love the Way You Lie, and You’re Never Over are all quite powerful. Recovery actually had some of my favorite Eminem lyrics to date, though the music itself wasn’t as good, his passion was really dialed back, and the production sucked.

            October 30, 2013 at 4:15 am

agree about the lyrics, and I thought that though the production was a little bit more mainstream and less old-Em, I thought it fit the lyrics well. imo Recovery was his most emotionally packed album (especialy Going Through Changes and 25 To Life).

            October 30, 2013 at 5:18 pm

Yeah, I agree. The production isn’t my favorite, but it does suit the lyrics. And that is one hell of an emotionally-charged album. All his stuff is, but that album seemed the most personal.

            And :D

Actually… they’re both very good for different reasons. Relapse has incredible flows and genius lyrics, but is so abrasive that it’s hard to realize how great it is. Recovery is more shallow, but the production is lovely and the flows are gorgeous. Both take several listens to appreciate on their own terms. If you are an Eminem fan, I think you’re in for a treat if you give them another chance.

If you people want a say in what artists do now a days, buy an ALBUM!! Wether it be a physical or digital one, whatever. You people just download some shit of the internet then talk in here like if you had a voice. Recovery is an okay album, at least it still had what made Em great. Some lyrics and punchlines(fuck the beats cause he aint a dj he an MC), not his best but it was a good enough comback. You motherfuckers talk shit about money and sell out this and sell out that but you never support these people yourselves and thats why they have to resort to this. Eminem can make songs to videogames or to whom ever he fucking wishes, hes the artist. As long as he aint shitting around trying to be someone else just for cash. And he hasnt, hes still Em one way or another. Buy some of his shit, and then you might have a say in what he does, but honestly hes the artist, the artist expresses himself, not what other people want him to express. Give the album a chance hes done weird stuff before but Im sure he thought this through before calling it the sequel to MMLP.

            October 6, 2013 at 8:20 am

Actually, this is a completely wrong point. If an album is terrible, but sells because of the artist, it would suggest to the artist/record company that what was released on this album is something people want to hear, whereas in actual fact, it would have only sold because of what is essentially a form of brand recognition. If anything, downloading for free and forming an opinion, and THEN actually BUYING the album is a better way to support the artist and convey an opinion…

If that’s the first time you heard that, you been leaving under a rock. I like the album, but that’s probably just because i am an Eminem-hooligan. On sites like pitchfork, Recovery got graded a 2.8 (which is WAY to exaggerated IMO, should be a 6).

Recovery sold amazingly well, but for rap albums, that is not a reason for it to be good: rap that sounds good but haven’t amazing lyrics sell good, because non-rap enthusiasts like it too.

Anyways, I seriously hope you wake up one day and realize how stupid you are, and I would appreciate it if you could just destroy your computer and any copy of Recovery you might have. Thanks so much. It was dark, and that was amazing. You’re too childish to understand it, so just shut the fuck up.

Relapse was not utter garbage. Relapse was brilliant in terms of rhyming and word play. People just dismiss it bc they can’t get past the accents. If he had used his reg voice through the whole album people would call it a masterpiece.

        • Roby Schlager
          October 21, 2013 at 2:00 pm

Barely any of you guys have a clue what you’re talking about. Recovery and Relapse were like 2 different sides of Eminem. Recovery being Marshall Mathers and Relapse being Slim Shady. Lyrically, Relapse was so much better then recovery but recovery still had some pretty insane lyrics. Relapse was written when he was in Rehab and then when he decided to stay clean he wanted to take a different route than just talking about drugs all the time. Overall, you guys can’t really say an album is garbage until you understand the meaning/purpose behind the album.

Beg to differ. Recovery was the worst thing put out by Em. Most of the songs were love songs, and he even stated in one of the songs that he sorry for almost dissing lil wayne and kanye. That was weak. Relapse wasn’t all that bad, it was dark and a lot of songs were insane, flow wise. Recovery is sellout bull, i hope MMLP2 isn’t the same.

          October 27, 2013 at 4:05 am

I’m not even sure where to begin to respond on here because there is so many comments. That said, I’m with you Transfxed.., Recovery was actually my favorite album from Em since The Eminem Show. Adding to this, arguing whether Recovery or Relapse is better is fucking stupid.

If you like Recovery better, you’re right.

If you like Relapse better, you’re right.

Basic grade school English everyone. An opinion is not a fact. Just because one guy feels a certain way about an album, doesn’t mean the other person had the same experience. I connected with Recovery during a time I was detoxing off of really terrible stuff. I also was in the middle of trying to finish my degree, and that album did so much for my strength and drive. Anytime I listen to that record, I immediately have that sense I need to push myself to stay strong. There is incredible power in that album. If you don’t like it, I understand. He didn’t rape, murder, or call as many people fags on the records as he usually does. If you were looking for that, I can see why you were let down. For others like me, we felt or connected what he was conveying in the music. If you hated it though, I won’t dismiss you. No need to take away someone else’s experience from music though. That’s the greatest gift you can ever ask to receive from an artist. And I see so many people trying to steal that away from each other on the net every day.

          October 31, 2013 at 3:02 pm

You guys can hate on Recovery all you want but I think that recovery was pretty good album. However I would’nt like Eminem to continue with Recovery type songs because I think an album is enough. Just like I do with Relapse. Both are completely different type of albums and both are good in their own ways. Recovery is a more serious and deep album and so what he fused it with pop? That doesn’t make it shit.. Lyrics wise it was good, the flow was amazing and beats were good too. Relapse is damn funny with sick rhymes and thats what makes it good. Anyway didn’t want Eminem to repeat recovery or relapse in MMLP2 and he didnt :D

      • Russ
        October 25, 2013 at 5:51 pm

Please support your comment on “Recovery was huge miss”. Em has never put out a flop or let down album. Its the people who dont understand good music that tend to carry high expectations and will be regretting what they said years after he is gone. Appreciate it now, music that will never be overshadowed, yet cast a shadow over the entire rap industry as an impossible feat to ever outdo the greatest rapper of all time. If anyone differs that there is a lyricist out there who is comparable, even in the slightest bit, reconsider your decision, because there is a good reason the person in mind has never tried to call out Em on an album, that is rap suicide.

“Rap God” so far is the only one that does, and it’s an awesome song. “Berzerk” is more like his older stuff, but it’s still really different. And “Survival” sounds a lot like the stuff on Recovery. So there’s a chance of it living up to the first one, but you’re definitely right that it’s a risky naming choice… definitely creates a lot of pressure.

    • Silver Wheels
      October 24, 2013 at 9:05 pm

The sequel to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx was named with the same sense of boldness (“OB4CL Part 2″). After so many subpar Raekwon albums, it seemed like a weak attempt to generate excitement about the next project. But then it was not only a magnifcent album, but probably better than the first–and gave the entire Wu-Tang Clan’s image immediate rejuvenation.

In other words, this title had me feeling the same way about the upcoming album as OB4CLP2 had me feeling before it came out. So who knows. I didn’t like “Survival” at first, but after digesting the magnificence of “Rap God,” the first and second singles sound pretty awesome. Who knows……

I think it was a bad move with the name, because it’s going to be compared to the 1st (which was a GENIUS album), and when it comes to anything with more than 1 version, the original is usually always favored. i hope it’s less shouting in this album though.. his flows on “rap god” were done great.

I can’t wait for this to be released. Berzerk sounds so much like something he would have done 13 years ago, add on “the stroke” and the beastie boys style delivery and Berzerk could easily become one of his greatest singles ever. If not HIS greatest, but the greatest of what has been released in the past 5 years. Hopefully the entire album delivers as much raw energy.

I’ve grown up with the Marshall Mathers LP…It came out when I was a year old and I used to listen to Eminem with my mom and dad. At about 8 I started collecting his albums. I started collecting the dirty versions THEN the clean versions just so I can support him. Now my first album I owned (excluding Curtain Call) is having a sequel!? I feel like it’s a sequel to my childhood…makes me cry the most joyful tears. Love you, Em.

lol as if he understood it at age 1. Also his parents probably were the people listening to it and he just happened to be there so they prob are the ones that introduced him to it. My nephew knows like all the old rap songs from late 90s and early 2000s and was able to sing them since he was 3, just a byproduct of his father listening to nothing but rap.

Common this cd could have up to 20 songs on it everyone knows how he is this could be a curveball he was known to love the beastie boys an it could’ve been a tribute give it a chance em is still the shit I can see yelawolf being on this album and Idk why but I’m having a feeling we could hear a forgot about dre part 2? Recovery was better then Encore in full. Recovery’s main problem was incredibly corny and stupid hooks, but the bars weren’t that bad compared to Encore’s terrible throw away tracks. and I would only give Relapse a 7, and that’s generous. I would give Infinite a solid 7 as well, how did you like Relapse more then infinite? The other ratings are spot on though.

To me, the album cover looks like the same house (from MMLP) from the same angle and of the same side of the house, but the front tree has lost much of it’s leaves. It also looks to have been abandoned and weeds and shrubs have been growing around the house. Looks like the windows have also been boarded up.

I’d love to know the story behind that house.

you’re judging and entire album by one song? really? u think his whole album is gonna be beastie boys sounding? have you never listened to Eminem’s songs? its a song dedicated to early rap, that’s why everything in the song and video is all throwback stuff. Stop trolling Eminem forums, you’re not very good at it.

Anyway, if the whole album sounds like the Beasties, that’s excellent, they’re the greatest hip-hop group that ever was.

Most people don’t know what the “Old Em” sound like. They base everything off of recovery, and compare him to “little” wayne(douche).

Youll never make anyone happy. People ask for a million dolalrs you give it to them and they bitch that there not happy. people ask for the old EminEm he finally makes some of his old stuff and they will bitch its nothing like it or he has sold out or people will say that he should have stuck with his recovery days. Me, i love whatever this crazy amazing guys puts out.

I notice that people who think Eminem is “old school” also don’t like his new stuff. Everyone that loved the recovery album “hates” Berzerk. However, Berzerk is more “traditional” Slim Shady than anything in the last five years.

P.S. Recovery was horrible as a whole, with some good individual songs.

I must admit, until recently the only Eminem stuff I liked was off Recovery. But after reading comments here about him taking a risk by naming this new album MMLP2, I gave the original a listen and I love it. I guess it goes to show that music taste does change over time.
    Psyched for this album!

Eminem is a god, but the fan base are morons. Why are you guys all arguing about who knows Eminem’s true music and “recovery sucks blah blah blah”. I mean look at the comments on the Common Courtesy album, that’s a fan base that truly just loves the bands music and don’t put each other down. I for one became a fan of Eminem after Recovery came out, and explored every single one of his other albums and can agree that his old stuff was truer to “Eminem’s sound” but it doesn’t change the fact that Recovery is a good album. You guys need to chill out and just see what happens with Slim on this album. It doesn’t matter who likes what, we are all on this page for the same reason Good music.

Just want to say I completely agree with you! I don’t post often, but i follow this website everyday. I am so pumped for Common Courtesy and that whole group over there is amazing! I wish that as fans of eminem, we could have such great discussions, and news, without all this crap regarding “true eminem music”

    • Chris
      October 7, 2013 at 3:44 am

I completely agree with this. I love A Day to Remember, and Eminem. Why can’t we have the same compassion, and discussion that the Common courtesy page has? Who cares who the “true” eminem is. Matter of fact, Eminem IS Eminem and personally i can;t wait to hear the next chapter of his music. We should be excited for that, not fighting and arguing about what is is “good” music.

being that ive been a fan since infinite and and seen and heard where hes come from to now i find hes conformed in a way to please the average RADIO listener hence why any fan thats been around would say what these people are saying. I fully agree he needs to do more about his feelings but not in a POP vibe. True Shit Always Shines If You Stay True People will forever Feel You – Tech N9ne. Hence why older music from em i love more cuz you can feel the emotion. Relapse was a flop to many ppl but that dosnt negate the fact that some songs on that album were dope same as recovery but as both as a hole they were not up to par for me. Do i think this new album will live up tho the hype of MMLP no idea but i can only wait and see. Just like i have to wait and see if the Tech N9ne and Eminem colab will ever happen. you just never know whats left in the tank. sorry if ive written to much just really had to vent to many years i sat back as i watch and read forms on the same bull every year

I liked his music better when he was an insane drug addict. That dark psycho vibe is the main reason I liked Enimem in the first place. I hated recovery, relapse was decent but it was no slim shady lp or marshal mathers lp. I hope this one is intense and raw like his old shit, listening to sane people isn’t fun

Alot of you are fucking retarded and shouldn’t be talking music!!! the RECOVERY was amazing, granted it wasn’t the psychotic Em, but it was Em giving you Em! It was a very deep album, i myself am battling addiction and realize how deep RECOVERY is…RECOVERY is perhaps Em’s realest album to date! smh to all of u that think it was “pop” records just to sell! y’all have no clue how deep and real that album is!

Right if you’re not a serious Eminem fan, stop reading now. It annoys me to fuck when people say Relapse or Recovery were shit because they really weren’t and people were just following the crowd when they say it. Yes Relapse did have a lot of songs that were maybe warped and mental and fucked up, but if you’re calling it ‘too dark’ you’re really not an Eminem fan. Songs like Same Song and Dance and Insane were, lyrically dark, perhaps even horrocore but thats what Eminem does best. Lyrically Hell: The Sequel is better than Recovery and Relapse. Recovery was a lot different to Relapse yes, but it is NOT repeat NOT ‘shitty love songs’ If you listen to Recovery all the way through you can notice the different aspects of it. If you believe the whole ‘Lil Wayne diss on No Love thing’ then that makes it an even better song. So Bad was a good song, Talkin 2 Myself was an immensely good song and You’re Never Over is one of his best songs post rehab. You may accuse me of ‘riding his dick’ but you’re the ones saying Relapse is whack just cause Em said it was whack. He’s a perfectionist, and to him it wasn’t perfect so he knocked it, but it was still really good. Stop dissing Em, because when he goes away you’ll be begging him to come back.

      October 15, 2013 at 8:27 pm

this is exactly what i try to tell my friends, yes relapse and recovery might be alot different from his earlier stuff but shit happens and people change, anyone who disses the two albums just because of the crowd then they clearly don’t like eminem as much as they claim to, i completely agree with what you’re saying and anyone who disagrees need to stop calling themselves a true fan

“Music Box” was an awesome song and all his albums are genius, even if you go back and listen to his old ones you always find something that you didn’t notice, like a reference or a sound that has to do with a reference or a name drop, and im like jeez how does this guy keep up with so many current events, some of it is the most obscure references ever. I believe that is what makes him such a good lyricist is the little things collaborating into one big song.

Relapse wasn’t way too dark…it was no where near as dark as the original MMLP. Look at I’m Back, Kill You, Kim, Marshall Mathers, The Way I Am,Stan etc. Relapse followed the Slim Shady formula better than MMLP2 has, it’s execution just wasn’t that great. To be honest, he had some good songs on that. Hello, 3AM, We Made You, Beautiful, Careful What you WIsh for. Most of these songs were pulled down by the stupid accents and him trying too hard with being ‘Slim Shady’ when he just wasn’t that person anymore. Recovery was the other extreme, he tried too hard to NOT be Slim Shady. It was like having a whole album of Mockingbird with slightly less emotion and worse production. It had some decent songs, Not Afraid, 25 to Life etc. but even these were really spiked with poppy garbage, which really does represent the new Em, and he isn’t going to change back just cos other people want him to. Let him be, we have enough content to label him as one of the GOAT.

If you actually listen to the words in his songs carefully and see what he’s describing you’ll come to realize that he has never made a bad album. Sure there’s some that are better than others but he is in a class of his own, a true Rap god. you saying that relapse and recovery were bad just shows how simple minded you are. go listen to that “turn up” Bullshit you probably like.

To those who say Relapse was shit, go fVck yourselves, and to those who say Recovery was a commercial shit, you can go fVck yourselves as well. I hope to see more than one or two Dre productions on here, say what you will about the lyrics and rapping on Relapse, but it’s definitely the best produced Eminem album, and that’s because Dre produced every song except Beautiful (IMO, the worst song on Relapse). So far, we haven’t had a Dre production, and that’s why everyone’s saying it doesn’t sound like old Eminem, cause we need Dre and the Bass Brothers and Luis Resto back! :D

By now its being pressed and sent to retailers. Sure, you can make sure nobody in the studio leaks it, but what about the thousands of employees that deal with its release. Some dude in a Walmart warehouse could open the case, rip the songs and close it back. I think we will have it sometime before Halloween.

    • James
      October 23, 2013 at 4:43 am

All that does is eliminate any chance of a leak BEFORE the CDs are pressed. Way back when albums could leak a month or more in advance if people weren’t careful where the put the digital files/who had access to them or emails or whatever. But as soon as the physical CDs are pressed in the warehouses across the world and shipped out to stores to sell (usually a week or two before the release date), anything is fair game. Smaller shops could sell early, international shops may not care about strict release date policies, an employee could take the cd from the warehouse or a shipping truck, etc. All it takes is one

    • Barrett
      October 23, 2013 at 6:30 am

Press copies won’t be handed out until day of release, so there will not be a leak unless someone gets their pre-order early. I wouldn’t get your hopes up for that though, sorry guys.

    • Matthew Crossley
      October 23, 2013 at 2:50 pm

Anyone who thinks “Relapse” is in his top 5 is just a challenged Em fan. Marshall himself, admits it was his worst album. There were hints of him within some of those songs but he didn’t sound anything like any of the other albums.

    MMLP2 will be a top 3 album.

    • Matthew Crossley
      October 25, 2013 at 3:18 pm

obviously relapse is gonna sound different from his other stuff because of the situation he was in when he made it and the fact that he made it alot darker than his other stuff, that doesn’t mean it’s a bad album because all of his albums good, yes some might be better than others but Relapse is a masterpiece, thats just your opinion that it sucks and just because Eminem said it doesn’t mean that everyone else should follow along like sheep does it? everyone has a right to an opinion just because you disagree doesn’t mean that anyone who puts relapse in their top 5 is a “challenged fan”, it just means they happen to like it more than some other people!

Opinions are opinions….right. Just agreeing with the man who created the album. And I never said it was “Bad”. Just his worst. ;)

    Berzerk – 8/10
    Rap God – 6/10
    Survival – 4/10
Kind of worried.. Survival alone makes this album unworthy of the MMLP2 name.

At this point in his career, his legacy is secure. Let’s not forget, he is universally respected in an industry that thrives on “beef”. Game said it best…Nobody fucks with the whiteboy because he shreds. To date, the only time Jay-Z has ever been willing to play second fiddle was with Eminem at the Home & Home tours. When the majority of hiphop artists state that he is one of the greatest of ALL TIME, maybe they say it because it’s true. Love Jay-Z, love Kanye West, but them two can watch the throne while Eminem sits on it.

I think “hayden”s coment is fucking spot on…of course its not gon come out and people are gonna riot on how great it is, eminem was the “rap god” back in the early 200′s rap has turned so filtered and oerproduced to where eminem songs this generation just dont understand, only the ones like myself lucky enough to grow up with marshall understand and it cant be expressed in words, MMLP2 is such a relief to me for the main fact….EMINEM IS STILL HERE!

New single, The Monster (ft. Rihanna) out on October 28th!

Also some interesting looking stuff here:

Look at the tracklisting, there’s now songwriting credits, some extra production credits and track lengths. The citation links to some Japanese website with a preorder, but that doesn’t have the production credits, just songwriting and track lengths, so I’m wondering if So Far… is actually produced by Dre. Anyhoo it’s worth a look :P

  • Chris Ruffino
    October 28, 2013 at 9:48 pm

The verses on Survival are better, but this chorus on The Monster is light years better. Not a great song, but ironic that he’s rapping about his love/hate relationship with fame on what could be the biggest single on the whole album. Doubt anything will be as poppy as this song.

  • Duster
    October 28, 2013 at 9:52 pm

I realized that the beat is what I absolutely hate about this song. Verses are average-above average, hook isn’t bad, but the beat sucks. I also don’t like that Ohh oh oh ohhhhhh part. BUT this is without a doubt better than LTWYL. If this is the most poppy song on MMLP2, then I’m good. I think he named this album MMLP2 only to fool fans in to thinking he is back in the same mindset as #1

  • Alejandro
    October 29, 2013 at 12:09 am

I think Berzerk was a great lead single sure the verses weren’t that great but the chorus and hook were very catchy and classical Slim. Survival is a COD promotional single and i know Alot of people dont like when he yells but i mean he kind of has too for this type of song in the end it does what it needs to do and gets you pumped. Chorus is weak but the verses are pretty decent. Rap God was sensational the best I’ve herd from Eminem in a while his flow, rhyme scheme, and technicality were superb. Enough said. Now the Monster as a rap song isn’t the best in fact i think this is one of the worst single he’s ever put out BUT I’m 100% sure the label forced him to do it and after it all it is a radio single made to sell and become mainstream this song could even go to #1 on the charts. Chorus is catchy verses are simple it ok at best. Yes there wasn’t anything as poppy on the original MMLP but times change if this is the worst track on the album and the most pop one I’ll be fine lets not right the album off because of one mediocre single.

  • Raymond
    October 29, 2013 at 2:13 pm

I read all these comments like “his old stuff was better” or “everything after Eminem Show sucks.” If he wrote another album that sounded exactly like MMLP1, there’d be complaints about how he isn’t original anymore. Instead, he wrote music that he decided best represents him right now. And he gets hate for it anyway.
And what is the standard at which we can say a song “sucks”? There’s a lot of musicians/bands that I do not like at all, but that doesn’t mean they suck. There’s a lot of people who would disagree with me, just as plenty of people tell me the music I listen to sucks. It doesn’t, it just isn’t for everyone.
Can we please stop talking about “this sucks, old was better” and just appreciate the fact that we get to hear new music from one of the greatest rappers of all time?

    • James
      October 29, 2013 at 2:25 pm

Thank you! Artists evolve, their music will change… If an artist is still making the same music after 15 years then they’re unoriginal and derivative

    • elliot
      October 29, 2013 at 2:27 pm

People are allowed to say they don’t like something as much as they’re allowed to say they like it. How boring would it be if people only ever said music was good?

      • Raymond
        October 29, 2013 at 2:37 pm

I’m not saying people have to like his new songs. I just find it annoying when people say a song sucks, as if it is a fact. I have no problem reading an opinion of someone who doesn’t care for a song or an album. What gets to me is when they try to push their opinion on others and rant about how the artist used to be better.

    • stevenfrolke
      October 29, 2013 at 4:11 pm

A little tidbit of info from Paul Rosenberg, Em’s attorney/manager. If this is true, I has a sad.

    • Nick
      October 29, 2013 at 7:26 pm

if this is true then they are just stupid. most people i know (myself included) use the leak to judge if they want to buy the album or just certain songs. Being a fan of eminem i will undoubtably be buying the deluxe version but if (when) it leaks i will listen to it until i get the hard copy. Lots of artists have said it, the leak doesnt matter because if its good music people will still buy it, if they are a true fan people will still buy it. Plus it almost reduces the backlash of comments saying “dont waste your money” “cant believe i bought this” “trash” etc. They may not sell as much but is a couple thousand copies that big of a deal to a huge superstar?! No.

      • 8MileSoldier
        October 30, 2013 at 3:54 am

Don’t try to justify a leak. People can wait and buy the album on the day of it’s release, or if they want to wait and see if it’s good or not, wait until the day of release and someone will upload it then. Either way you will get it when it’s released. I listen to leaks as well, but don’t try to justify that a leak is important.

          December 27, 2013 at 7:50 pm

If you know anything about Eminem you would know that each one of his albums has a different style. MMLP2 may have a sort of similar flow to it but that is because it’s a revisit to MMLP. If you really thought Em would completely change his style (like he did from Relapse to Recovery) on an album that is essentially a sequel, then you are an idiot and are clearly not understanding. Plus, you need to work on your grammar and spelling.

Compared to other rappers the 4 songs I’ve heard from the album blow them out of the water. However I can’t say that they measure up to the original MMLP, but that album was one of the greatest of all time. The bars set ridiculously high, but if anyone can reach it its Em.

It would be awesome If before the song Monster a skit would play where Em walks in Steve Berman’s office where he says that we need a pop-rap song to sell and promote the album and after that The Monster kicks in. But yea, Eminem killed Steve Berman in The Eminem Show..

It would be awesome if before the song Moster there would be a skit where Em walks in Steve Bermnan’s office and he says that ‘we need to sell and promote the album with a pop-rap song with Rihanna’. After that The Monster kicks in.

Why do u guys have to trash all of em’s stuff personally i think that everyone of his albums are original and amazing (excluding infinite, but it was his first album and still alright) and how do u say that relapse and recovery are complete trash when they both won a Grammy.

    October 30, 2013 at 1:27 am

Just because it is called the MMLP2 does not mean it is like the first album. Eminem himself even said he knew it was a bold move to name it that because people were gonna think it was gonna be like the first he said its not gonna be like the first one, hes not gonna continue the songs like part 2 of the songs or something. He is just gonna do what he does best and all of his real fans will appreciate anything he puts out.

i liked berzerk, rap god was phenominal. survival was w.e.. The monster was a lame attempt at mainstream attention with a lazy unmotivated hook.. ems verses always on point but he doesnt need that look bec its em..anything he raps will sell, usually.

i rly think he should of named it something else.. mmlp2 will give it unreasonable expectations.

  • 8MileSoldier
    October 30, 2013 at 3:49 am

People need to realize this isn’t a sequel like a lot of people are thinking. He’s not gonna have that same sound, he’s not continuing on any of the songs on that album. This is a re-visitation of that album. He named it MMLP2 because this is about Marshall again. People need to manage their expectations, I still think this album is gonna be dope, and instead of bashing everything, critiquing every little detail, just enjoy the music. We’re never going to get that old Eminem from 2000-2002. Not going to happen, get over it.

How are you guys saying Eminem is not the same. Obviously from Survival and if you’ve watch 8 mile you know that Eminems only option is to make music to live. So if hes trying to get the most money out of his line of work. let him do so. You cant tell him to make an album that sounded like it was from the 90′s and expect it to sell good. He has nothing to fall back on. Be grateful for his music

    • PeoplestilllistentoCDs?
      October 30, 2013 at 2:51 pm

STFU already… Sick of people like you. If somebody doesn’t like his music, who cares? Why do you care so much? The music IS DIFFERENT than it was in the 2000s or the 90s, so people CAN and WILL say he’s the not same or doesn’t sound the same, in the end, it doesn’t matter

It’s more annoying to see people like you who try to “force” their opinion on other people

I noticed in the article this guy says ‘Sequel’ to the first mmlp, go back and watch the interview of Eminem talking about this album where he clearly states this album is not a sequel of the first MMLP but a revisit to it, not a sequel. The first MMLP was about his life, how he grew up, he wanted to get stuff of his chest, he doesn’t have that life anymore and he has nothing left to prove. I believe he just wants to sit back and rap now, he has already said everything he needed to say.

This album is fuckin great!!! It’s sad to see that there a some ignorant people out there saying Recovery had bad lyricism??? wtf do y’all listen to if Recovery was bad I don’t understand it. “But that’s what they do when they get jealous they confuse it, it’s not hip hop it’s pop cuz I found a hella way to fuse it” y’all some hoes thinking something is pop cuz it’s not a boom clap beat from the 90′s. Eminem knows what he’s doing and I think this album is deff better than recovery, but recovery was awesome. So fuck y’all

  • tech
    October 31, 2013 at 5:13 am

This album had all the right elements for perfection, one of the biggest things that hit me in this album was the song ” Headlights ” I never expected this from Em, to make a song in a positive way regarding his mother. I actually got a little choked up hearing it the first time. Monster, Love Game, So Far, are just some of my favorites this is literally the best album of the year and upcoming.

  • jwil32101
    October 31, 2013 at 6:24 am

album leaked and can be found on kickass torrents.Bad Guy, Legacy, Brainless, Asshole, The Monster, and Stronger Than I Was are tight, and Rap God is i insane…he rips it at 4:30! Lyrical genius for sure, tracks beg for multiple listens to catch everything he says! He apologizes to his mother in Headlights and raps about going to far and how he hates hearing the songs he made dissin her. It’s certainly worthy of the album title! Can’t wait to hear the 5 bonus tracks on the deluxe version.

    October 31, 2013 at 8:04 am

this album is a bit soft, like every other song sounds like a love song or something, and the tracks where the women are singing as well are just trash pretty much, holy crap I was waiting for this album and every single track that came out I was defending and saying its just his evolution. I am now disappointed, I hope this isn’t his last album, truly the only ones that were good I believe were just the early released tracks, hes talking about how he can still rip people apart but I dont really see it.

    • Hanzo Hasashi
      October 31, 2013 at 8:21 am

      • dj942009
        October 31, 2013 at 10:07 am

no but if you wanna call it a sequel to one of the most rigid albums out there then maybe it should have more than one song with some fire in it. its full of songs made by him and some women, and the words arent even impressively put together other than rap god. It disheartens me to say it but its my honest opinion. take a look at songs from the mmlp. Can you honestly say that any songs on this new album can compare to a song like “the way I am” “kill you” “amityville” “kim” “criminal” or even the more pop type songs like ” the real slim shady”? he shoulda just named it a self titled album and not try to raise expectations like it would be another version of mmlp. sorry you dislike my opinion but its hard for me to say, I know his songs by heart and can sing with every verse, just to give you a picture of how much I like his songs.

  • The Truth Is There
    October 31, 2013 at 8:56 am

This MMLP2 makes The Recovery sound like a classic and I hated that album. I been a Eminem fan since he was underground, he seems to have forgot where he came from andis making pop music. I had a good feeling this album was going to reunite my love for eminem but nope. The tracks that were leaked were decent, so I thought they would of been the weak alnum tracks. Which is what normally happens. No they seem to be the better tracks. Damn pop music and iTunes kids, wouldn’t know music if it bit their asses. Such a cop out. I know I will hear “your not a true fan as you would like his work all the time” that’s bollocks. I like music when it’s good and it makes my hair stand up. I’m a very disappointed fan, It’s sad to say eminems music was better when he was on drugs!!!

    • Mid
      October 31, 2013 at 9:06 am

      • The Truth Is There
        October 31, 2013 at 9:11 am

A hipster?!?! The album lacks passion,it’s lyrically weak, silly hooks, poor artists are on it with him ie rihanna, skyla grey. It’s just poor, I’m a massive slim shady fan not this garbage!! Cheers

Never said I was the only fan mate, I’ve probly been following eminem before most of the posters were born. Which obviously gives me no more power over any other poster, I’m just putting my voice out just like we all are. I really wanted to like this album but I can’t maybe over time cheers!!

        • Mid
          October 31, 2013 at 9:20 am

Yeah, a hipster because you are acting ignorant as hell. I didn’t like the special guest tracks but most of the other songs were just like his old work. He writes a few good songs every album and sells it. Don’t understand how fans don’t see that pattern yet.

          • The Truth Is There
            October 31, 2013 at 9:29 am

I don’t know what you mean by hipster. I’m not hear to argue mate, I’m just putting across my view. I like the darksideof eEminem not the pop side. I love him when he rips a track to shreds. Cheers

          • Mid
            October 31, 2013 at 9:46 am

And if he kept making “dark side” music, you would call him out for not doing something different and how he repeats all of his work. The so called view you have is ignorant and rude. Cheers

            October 31, 2013 at 9:52 am

I can’t see howiI’m rude or ignorant, nevermind. I like it when it’s more aggressive and passionate, I wouldnt moan about him not changing his style. I love eminems work with Dre. This for me was just poor. Plus you don’t have to be iinsulting. Cheers

            October 31, 2013 at 10:00 am

This is what i’m talking about being rude -> “Damn pop music and iTunes kids, wouldn’t know music if it bit their asses.” I can at least agree with you some of the tracks on the album are weak, lyrics are what kept them alive(besides The Monster, that was awful)

          • The Truth Is There
            October 31, 2013 at 10:09 am

Ok I guess I was a little harsh. It’s just kids nowadays don’t understand where eminem and music come from. I remember running to the shop to buy up in smoke and watching all the time. For me this was when music was real and very talented, nnowadays it’s just cheesy hooks and soft llovely tunes, I like to jump in my car and blast out a heavy tune with a big 808 drum and heavy snare and cruise unfortunately I can’t do this anymore with this type of music. Cheers

I agree, today it is less about the quality, and more about the mindfunking message/popularity based on views.itunes sales, which are based on GARBAGE ASS HOOKS ETC. like “we can’t top and we won’t stop/ the monster under my bed in my funking head, these voices etc” ALL OF THESE SAID HOOKS are flagrantly satanic so much so that its a joke on the listener

that ain’t “rude” thats “Real” he is point blank calling out the fact that these new age millenial clowns think we can’t stop/ and the rap equivalent the monster ARE GOOD TRACKS, at some point people need to stop bobbing their heads to their own stupidity, BOTH TRACKS ARE GARBAGE, millenials think garbage is good music based on itune/yotube popularity

No, when you act like anyone that likes the album is stupid and deaf, you have a narrow view. I’m open with life, I can accept an opinion as long as you don’t sound like a ignorant fuckwit. Also, why reply to something that isn’t directed at you? Nevermind, no point in arguing with someone that is arguing with everyone else on this album comment section (Yeah, I see you commenting on other stuff)

you think berzerk, survival, rap god, and the monster are GOOD??? when compared with the charisma he displayed on drug funked records of the past??? I haven’t heard the whole thing yet so I won’t get carried away but sometimes you gotta accept when something IS SH1T IT IS SH1T

I hate the first part of Berzerk, the rest is good. Survival is ok. Rap god is amazing, and the monster sucks. And if you haven’t heard it all yet, why the hell are you trying to start something with me? Logic

survival is awful shouldn’t be on the record, berzerk is bad, rap god is not that good, and the monster sounds like a commercial for the real housewives, that being said, he redeemed himself I hadn’t heard the album when I posted, the majority of everything else is excellent

            November 3, 2013 at 2:32 am

I heard the whole thing, he redeemed himself, its absolutely fantastic 3 of the singles are trash and one is overly pop but decent, the album as a whole incl the always dope bonus tracks is VERY IMPRESSIVE

I haven’t heard it yet, will listen later, and I will agree with you from a standpoint of by comparison to his old work relapse/recovery included his first 4 singles off this album were borderline awful and unimpressive, I believe your review of the album a lot more than these idiot clowns who don’t understand what quality is, and I will see in a couple of hours just how bad it really is, this ain’t about “hipster” this is about realism, and the FACT is berzerk, survival, rap god, and the monster funking SUCK, I’m assuming the rest will be equally as bad

Wow… Didn’t think it was possible but MMLP2 lived up to the expectations! Every song on the album gives me the chills. Such perfect songs that are lyrically insane and others being beautiful having such deep meaning. Looks likes Slim Shady and Eminem are finally on common ground. All hail the rap god!

You’re entitled to your opinion and I agree with you to a point I guess since that’s the real Slim Shady. I’m just saying that we haven’t even seen Slim Shady in the slightest form for a while now. Some people could say his Bad Meets Evil stuff is Slim but I don’t really agree. I think the last time we saw Slim Shady at all was on Relapse and that was a long ass time ago.

Ok so this review isnt for WANNABE critics filled with hate
who love to hate who think they know rap and think they can judge it better
than anyone. Those who want to seem different and get attention by saying it
sucks without giving it a proper chance. Those who are trying so hard to not be
mainstream and your outlet is to hate on what seem like mainstream albums but
thats because you dont understand it you confuse it. Its clear that by now its
mainstream to try and be not mainstream. If you fall into those catogories stop
reading this. Which is basically half of the people on this website. Also if
your racist this isnt for you. If you think Kanye is god or if you havent
listened to og MMLP then just stop right here..

Bad Guy (9/10)- The whole concept of this song is
sensational while its no Stan its one the highlights of the album. Definately a
great intro and the outro to the song was pretty good too.

Rhyme Or Reason (8/10)- While the content is silly the beat
is almost infectious and the raps he spits are very technical no corny puns at
first kinda sucks but grows on you alot.

So much better (8/10) Pretty good kinda feels like puke but
better if you listen to this while thinking of some bitch that did you wrong
its a great song very funny and clever.

Survival (7/10) Chorus is ok verses are pretty decent please
dont forget this is a COD promo song its meant to pump you up and it does just
that yelling is whatever it still alright.

Legacy (8.5/10) Couldve been a 9 but w.e this song is great
from the chorus to the verses to his
delivery. At first it seems kind of emotional and lord knows whenever Eminem is
rapping serious you all love to say its mainstream and pop and that hes too
emotional. Well this song is very emotional but not like drake and if you know
Eminem’s story it’ll get to you and you will understand. Great affect how the
rain lightens up after each verse.

Asshole (8/10) Just Eminem spitting taking about his last
few years and what hes thinking kind of funny good flow good and rhyme scheme
chorus is kind of catchy it grows on you.

Berzerk (7/10) This is a radio single so you shouldnt expect
much from it extremely good chorus sounds like vintage slim pays homage to the
good ol days in hip hop verses are ok and humerus.

Rap God (9.5/10) This song is sensational the best ive herd
from him in years his flow is superb. He effectively changes it so many times
in the song but he mainly uses his overall flow for this album his
singing/rapping/renegade (well to be truthful the blueprints simply rage and
youthful exuberance) like flow at some points and then the famous super sonic
slim shady like flow. His technicalityand delivery is amazing. Not to mention
his out of this world Rhyme Scheme. Definitely one of the best songs if not the
    best on the album.

Brainless (8.5/10) Kind of sounds like old Em his rhyming is
very good in this song and its strangely catchy even the beat which seems weak
at first but this grows and grows on you it’s catchy and his verses are great.

Stronger than I was (5.5/10) – One of the most hated songs
on the album so OK go watch the titanic and the notebook then listen to drake
and every garbage mainstream love song out there and play this while thinking
about a girl that did you wrong and you just got over and this song will be a
10/10. This isnt a hip hop song and if you rate it as that its horribly corny
to poppy and just feels uneeded a (3/10) but it is needed this is KIM from Kims
point of view which is an amazing concept for a song so now listen to this song
and try to envision yourself as Kim and in a girls POV seems slightly better
right? No matter what to me it seems way to corny and wasted potential it also
doesn’t fit Eminem but if your feeling emotional this is a good song.

The Monster (6/10) Ok another radio single with Rihanna WHAT
WHERE YOU EXPECTING? Of course the label forced this song from Em but hey its
for those mainstream pop heads and they’ll love it. For us Rap fans its corny
and pop like personally i think this is one of the worst singles he ever put
out but hey its those catchy songs you hate to like.

So Far (8/10) almost gave it a 7 but this song is as close
as it gets to the Slim Shady LP YES the SSLP very nostalgic to that Slim
without that awesome nasal accent but Em hasnt dont that accent at all after
the MMLP anyway the samples of I’m Back and the Real slim shady were great and
this song is very funny the beat seems silly but its kinda perfect for the song
    some good rhymes.

Love Game (8/10) OK if you came in thinking this song would
be the next Renegade and they would go in HAM and rip it and destroy the hip
hop game you’re gunna listen to it and punch a wall and say its the worst song
youve ever heard. BUT you already saw this so go in and just see it as two of
the best Mcs in the game having fun and being silly . The beat goes WAY BACK
this song seems really weird at first probably cause of all our expectations
but the more you hear the better it gets up to the point you start to like it i
mean i think i like it but im not sure yet.

Headlights (9/10) OK ok put the guns down i know most of you
are all like how could you possibly give this a 9 its so mainstream and poplike
and corny and all this shit well sucks to suck this song is GOOD. Not lyrically
OBVIOUSLY but his story telling and content are super in this song yes it is
extremely emotional but for all the Eminem stans out there who know all about
Debbie and Marshall this song will give you chills and maybe a tear this is a
huge step For Eminem that he needed to take yeah its emotional but its Eminem
just being truthful and sincere and letting out his feelings towards his mom
after all theses years he finally let go all that anger towrds her and thats a
huge step for Mr. Dont give a fuck. Like i said before whenever Eminem is being
emotional these wannabe critics and haters come adding their 2 cents but don’t
skim through this song listen to it and understand what happenend between the
lines and what led to this.

Evil Twin (9/10) Eminem as always going out shooting (not
when he dies stupidd!) this song is pure incredible lyrcs exceptional rhymes
great techinicality and a good flow. Chorus is mediocre but the verses more
than make up for it. Sample of royce is great and this is a great retrospect
song. The final bang for Mr Slim.

Overall this album is very good much better than Recovery,
Relapse, and Encore. This is great album I admit at first listen I thought it
was aweful but like most of its songs it grows on you and gets better with each
listen. The Production is kind mediocre but all of those beats after a couple
listens seem perfect for theyre respective songs trust me the beats grow on
you. Anyway thanks for reading this if you did.

    Album review (8/10)

On its best days a (9/10)

Haters are gonna hate and are just not true fans. Lyrically I thought this was something we havn’t heard in a long time across all Hip Hop. (Not saying much, I know) Overall I hear snippets from the first MMLP mixed with Recovery which I will not complain about whatsoever. Nice one Slim. Can’t wait for the next. Lyrical genius, need we say more?

after listening to this about 5 times through (excluding the radio singles) these are my basic rankings for each song:

bad guy – 9.5/10 (perfect way to begin an excellent album)
rhyme or reason – 9/10 (catchy and great integration of sample)
    so much better – 8/10
    survival – 8.5/10
legacy – 9/10 (very dark and great female guest vocalist)
asshole – 9/10 (energetic as hell)
    berzerk – 8.5/10
rap god – 9.5/10 (still an ultimate classic)
brainless – 9/10 (really into the instrumentals)
stronger than I was – 8/10 (good for a slow song)
the monster – 6/10 (decent, but too radio-friendly and familiar)
so far – 9.5/10 (roots rock rap and top notch humour)
love game – 9/10 (great guest star and lyrics, very energetic)
headlights – 9/10 (not a fan of fun or nate but he was good in this, and the lyrics are beautiful)
evil twin – 9/10 (brilliant conclusion that seems to foreshadow the intro song)

overall: 9/10 (a solid effort from the greatest rapper alive. all hail the rap god, he has committed and lived up to his name)

Eminem and Slim Shady are two DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES. I give you that recovery was more of a radio-friendly, up-beat, album overall, but it’s performed by a different character. See, Eminem (at that point ‘M&M’) released Infinite, that wasn’t like Recovery, but it was definitely nothing like the Slim Shay LP/MMLP1. It talked about doing pills, but it didn’t talk about killing people and etc. Recovery was A GREAT ALBUM. It just wasn’t the murdering, raping, devious, Slim Shady that everyone wanted. Recovery was a powerful album. Tells a story of Eminem becoming a better person, ridding himself of his demons, and devoting himself to the important things. His family, friends, and YOU. You as in the fans. Recovery sold over 10.25 million copies worldwide. Album sales is not the most important thing but it IS IMPORTANT. It also won a Grammy for ‘Best Rap Album’ of the year. All because it’s not what you wanted, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. He didn’t conform to a profit-searching sell-out. He’s giving the fans what they want – and that’s Slim Shady. Now enjoy him while he’s still here, buy MMLP2, and appreciate a legend. Whether you believe it or not, you’ll miss him when he’s gone.

I don’t get when people talk about him selling out… wanting more money, new houses, whatever… Do you really think he doesn’t have enough money?? Do you really think he has nothing else to do?? Everybody wants to work with him! Everybody is calling him out (and not just in hip-hop world)! He doesn’t have to release any new albums anymore and still earn millions on other stuff… Not that I see him spending a lot like others (houses, cars, bling). I just don’t understand you… Every album is different because people change!!! Nobody can be the same for 20 years!! And that is the truth for every artist/person.. He is very personal, so every album is reflection of him at the moment of making the album… That’s what people like about him… It’s like reading a journal.. And it’s good they are different. If he was making every album like SSLP or MMLP you would be still be here shitting on him saying he’s a sellout as he keeps making the same thing as a sure thing and repeating himself cos of the sales! It’s never good enough for most of the people… So whatever he does it’s the same outcome! Some love it, some hate it… Personally, I think he should not think about fans when making music and just do his shit!

This album is great, probably his absolute best since The Eminem Show. If anyone doesn’t like it, that’s fine, its their opinion like mine. Many people loved Recovery and Relapse, and while they were good, I wasn’t extremely huge fans of those. This really restores the Shady magic that was lost for some time. “Bad Guy” is Stan pt.II as it takes form of Matthew, his younger brother and its damn amazing, especially the 4th verse which sends chills. Songs like “Rhyme or Reason” and “Love Game” take samples of older music and use it to show that Em can rap over anything, however “Love Game” is a bit goofy for my taste. “So Much Better” and “Brainless” really are throwbacks to the first MMLP and bring back nostalgia and kick ass music at its finest. “Survival”, “Asshole”, and “The Monster” are okay, but really songs I’d skip over as they are a bit bland or poppy for me, but everyone has their own style. “Legacy” is damn right amazing, going about Em’s life and showing off his brighter side of his darker life. “Bezerk” and “Rap God” are actually two singles off the album that are pretty damn good, that give throw backs to Hip-Hop and lightning fast verses. “Stronger Than I Was” and “Headlights” once again show off Em’s easier side with emotionally infused verses, singing, and lyrics that dig deep with raw emotion, especially in “Headlights” when he forgives his mother. “So Far…” is a Southern-rock-ish song that once again just gives Em another chance to show his goofy side. “Evil Twin” ends the album just as great as the album started, with Em battling Shady under an astronomical atmosphere. Overall, his 4th best, under The SSLP, MMLP, and TES, and a solid 9 out of 10.

You should all listen to Eminem – Don’t Front (feat. Buckshot). It is a Bonus Track of the album, that you could only get if you bought both Call Of Duty Ghosts and MMLP2. Eminem said that if he could change something about the album, he would add Don’t Front to it. The song couldn’t make the album in time.

Very good track though. Beat is something like Amityville.
