During the 2013 MTV VMA's, Eminem announced the release of his upcoming album, MMLPII. It will be the sequel to his 2000 album, The Marshall Mathers LP. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be the rapper's eighth studio album by American rapper Eminem and will be released through Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records, and Interscope Records. Production for the album took place during 2011 to 2013, at several recording studios and was handled by various record producers, including himself, Rick Rubin, No ID and Dr. Dre.

Royce da 5'9" appeared on RapFix with his group Slaughterhouse, on August 30, 2012, and talked about what he has heard of the album in the moment. Royce told: "I'm not so sure how the world is going to respond from some of the things that I've heard from him". He also noted that the things he has heard gave him nightmares. Needles to say, this is one of the most anticipated albums of 2013.

Opinions have been split down the middle regarding the two first singles, Berserk and Survival. Listen to Survival below, which also features on the video game soundtrack for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The track list, which can be found below, reveals the album is going to feature Skylar Grey, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Nate Ruess.

To everyone complaining about this album, as it did not live up to ‘your’ expectations. I honestly forgot that most of the people on this website are parents to multiple GRAMMY awards AND multiple multi-platinum albums under your name.

I don’t see what your getting at here, as fans and lifelong fans at that surely we are aloud a opinion. We all don’t have to say every track is a masterpiece do we? For me the album has 7 decent songs on at a stretch 9. But slim shady, infinite, mashall mathers, eminem show can all be played from start to finish classics!! Just my personal opinion, cheers!!

Ok so this review isnt for WANNABE critics filled with hate
who love to hate who think they know rap and think they can judge it better
than anyone. Those who want to seem different and get attention by saying it
sucks without giving it a proper chance. Those who are trying so hard to not be
mainstream and your outlet is to hate on what seem like mainstream albums but
thats because you dont understand it you confuse it. Its clear that by now its
mainstream to try and be not mainstream. If you fall into those catogories stop
reading this. Which is basically half of the people on this website. Also if
your racist this isnt for you. If you think Kanye is god or if you havent
listened to og MMLP then just stop right here..

Bad Guy (9/10)- The whole concept of this song is
sensational while its no Stan its one the highlights of the album. Definately a
great intro and the outro to the song was pretty good too.

Rhyme Or Reason (8/10)- While the content is silly the beat
is almost infectious and the raps he spits are very technical no corny puns at
first kinda sucks but grows on you alot.

So much better (8/10) Pretty good kinda feels like puke but
better if you listen to this while thinking of some bitch that did you wrong
its a great song very funny and clever.

Survival (7/10) Chorus is ok verses are pretty decent please
dont forget this is a COD promo song its meant to pump you up and it does just
that yelling is whatever it still alright.

Legacy (8.5/10) Couldve been a 9 but w.e this song is great
from the chorus to the verses to his
delivery. At first it seems kind of emotional and lord knows whenever Eminem is
rapping serious you all love to say its mainstream and pop and that hes too
emotional. Well this song is very emotional but not like drake and if you know
Eminem’s story it’ll get to you and you will understand. Great affect how the
rain lightens up after each verse.

Asshole (8/10) Just Eminem spitting taking about his last
few years and what hes thinking kind of funny good flow good and rhyme scheme
chorus is kind of catchy it grows on you.

Berzerk (7/10) This is a radio single so you shouldnt expect
much from it extremely good chorus sounds like vintage slim pays homage to the
good ol days in hip hop verses are ok and humerus.

Rap God (9.5/10) This song is sensational the best ive herd
from him in years his flow is superb. He effectively changes it so many times
in the song but he mainly uses his overall flow for this album his
singing/rapping/renegade (well to be truthful the blueprints simply rage and
youthful exuberance) like flow at some points and then the famous super sonic
slim shady like flow. His technicalityand delivery is amazing. Not to mention
his out of this world Rhyme Scheme. Definitely one of the best songs if not the
    best on the album.

Brainless (8.5/10) Kind of sounds like old Em his rhyming is
very good in this song and its strangely catchy even the beat which seems weak
at first but this grows and grows on you it’s catchy and his verses are great.

Stronger than I was (5.5/10) – One of the most hated songs
on the album so OK go watch the titanic and the notebook then listen to drake
and every garbage mainstream love song out there and play this while thinking
about a girl that did you wrong and you just got over and this song will be a
10/10. This isnt a hip hop song and if you rate it as that its horribly corny
to poppy and just feels uneeded a (3/10) but it is needed this is KIM from Kims
point of view which is an amazing concept for a song so now listen to this song
and try to envision yourself as Kim and in a girls POV seems slightly better
right? No matter what to me it seems way to corny and wasted potential it also
doesn’t fit Eminem but if your feeling emotional this is a good song.

The Monster (6/10) Ok another radio single with Rihanna WHAT
WHERE YOU EXPECTING? Of course the label forced this song from Em but hey its
for those mainstream pop heads and they’ll love it. For us Rap fans its corny
and pop like personally i think this is one of the worst singles he ever put
out but hey its those catchy songs you hate to like.

So Far (8/10) almost gave it a 7 but this song is as close
as it gets to the Slim Shady LP YES the SSLP very nostalgic to that Slim
without that awesome nasal accent but Em hasnt dont that accent at all after
the MMLP anyway the samples of I’m Back and the Real slim shady were great and
this song is very funny the beat seems silly but its kinda perfect for the song
    some good rhymes.

Love Game (8/10) OK if you came in thinking this song would
be the next Renegade and they would go in HAM and rip it and destroy the hip
hop game you’re gunna listen to it and punch a wall and say its the worst song
youve ever heard. BUT you already saw this so go in and just see it as two of
the best Mcs in the game having fun and being silly . The beat goes WAY BACK
this song seems really weird at first probably cause of all our expectations
but the more you hear the better it gets up to the point you start to like it i
mean i think i like it but im not sure yet.

Headlights (9/10) OK ok put the guns down i know most of you
are all like how could you possibly give this a 9 its so mainstream and poplike
and corny and all this shit well sucks to suck this song is GOOD. Not lyrically
OBVIOUSLY but his story telling and content are super in this song yes it is
extremely emotional but for all the Eminem stans out there who know all about
Debbie and Marshall this song will give you chills and maybe a tear this is a
huge step For Eminem that he needed to take yeah its emotional but its Eminem
just being truthful and sincere and letting out his feelings towards his mom
after all theses years he finally let go all that anger towrds her and thats a
huge step for Mr. Dont give a fuck. Like i said before whenever Eminem is being
emotional these wannabe critics and haters come adding their 2 cents but don’t
skim through this song listen to it and understand what happenend between the
lines and what led to this.

Evil Twin (9/10) Eminem as always going out shooting (not
when he dies stupidd!) this song is pure incredible lyrcs exceptional rhymes
great techinicality and a good flow. Chorus is mediocre but the verses more
than make up for it. Sample of royce is great and this is a great retrospect
song. The final bang for Mr Slim.

Overall this album is very good much better than Recovery,
Relapse, and Encore. This is great album I admit at first listen I thought it
was aweful but like most of its songs it grows on you and gets better with each
listen. The Production is kind mediocre but all of those beats after a couple
listens seem perfect for theyre respective songs trust me the beats grow on
you. Anyway thanks for reading this if you did.

    Album review (8/10)

On its best days a (9/10)

stronger than i was is perhaps the dopest track on the album, strange because he doesn’t rap on it, its his way of making the listener understand his current level of greatness by singing

Haters are gonna hate and are just not true fans. Lyrically I thought this was something we havn’t heard in a long time across all Hip Hop. (Not saying much, I know) Overall I hear snippets from the first MMLP mixed with Recovery which I will not complain about whatsoever. Nice one Slim. Can’t wait for the next. Lyrical genius, need we say more?

after listening to this about 5 times through (excluding the radio singles) these are my basic rankings for each song:

bad guy – 9.5/10 (perfect way to begin an excellent album)
rhyme or reason – 9/10 (catchy and great integration of sample)
    so much better – 8/10
    survival – 8.5/10
legacy – 9/10 (very dark and great female guest vocalist)
asshole – 9/10 (energetic as hell)
    berzerk – 8.5/10
rap god – 9.5/10 (still an ultimate classic)
brainless – 9/10 (really into the instrumentals)
stronger than I was – 8/10 (good for a slow song)
the monster – 6/10 (decent, but too radio-friendly and familiar)
so far – 9.5/10 (roots rock rap and top notch humour)
love game – 9/10 (great guest star and lyrics, very energetic)
headlights – 9/10 (not a fan of fun or nate but he was good in this, and the lyrics are beautiful)
evil twin – 9/10 (brilliant conclusion that seems to foreshadow the intro song)

overall: 9/10 (a solid effort from the greatest rapper alive. all hail the rap god, he has committed and lived up to his name)

in his best,no doubt listen to the rhyme complexity the producing the
nostalgic feeling to the mmlp2, if your really interested in rap and if

Eminem and Slim Shady are two DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES. I give you that recovery was more of a radio-friendly, up-beat, album overall, but it’s performed by a different character. See, Eminem (at that point ‘M&M’) released Infinite, that wasn’t like Recovery, but it was definitely nothing like the Slim Shay LP/MMLP1. It talked about doing pills, but it didn’t talk about killing people and etc. Recovery was A GREAT ALBUM. It just wasn’t the murdering, raping, devious, Slim Shady that everyone wanted. Recovery was a powerful album. Tells a story of Eminem becoming a better person, ridding himself of his demons, and devoting himself to the important things. His family, friends, and YOU. You as in the fans. Recovery sold over 10.25 million copies worldwide. Album sales is not the most important thing but it IS IMPORTANT. It also won a Grammy for ‘Best Rap Album’ of the year. All because it’s not what you wanted, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. He didn’t conform to a profit-searching sell-out. He’s giving the fans what they want – and that’s Slim Shady. Now enjoy him while he’s still here, buy MMLP2, and appreciate a legend. Whether you believe it or not, you’ll miss him when he’s gone.

I don’t get when people talk about him selling out… wanting more money, new houses, whatever… Do you really think he doesn’t have enough money?? Do you really think he has nothing else to do?? Everybody wants to work with him! Everybody is calling him out (and not just in hip-hop world)! He doesn’t have to release any new albums anymore and still earn millions on other stuff… Not that I see him spending a lot like others (houses, cars, bling). I just don’t understand you… Every album is different because people change!!! Nobody can be the same for 20 years!! And that is the truth for every artist/person.. He is very personal, so every album is reflection of him at the moment of making the album… That’s what people like about him… It’s like reading a journal.. And it’s good they are different. If he was making every album like SSLP or MMLP you would be still be here shitting on him saying he’s a sellout as he keeps making the same thing as a sure thing and repeating himself cos of the sales! It’s never good enough for most of the people… So whatever he does it’s the same outcome! Some love it, some hate it… Personally, I think he should not think about fans when making music and just do his shit!

This album is great, probably his absolute best since The Eminem Show. If anyone doesn’t like it, that’s fine, its their opinion like mine. Many people loved Recovery and Relapse, and while they were good, I wasn’t extremely huge fans of those. This really restores the Shady magic that was lost for some time. “Bad Guy” is Stan pt.II as it takes form of Matthew, his younger brother and its damn amazing, especially the 4th verse which sends chills. Songs like “Rhyme or Reason” and “Love Game” take samples of older music and use it to show that Em can rap over anything, however “Love Game” is a bit goofy for my taste. “So Much Better” and “Brainless” really are throwbacks to the first MMLP and bring back nostalgia and kick ass music at its finest. “Survival”, “Asshole”, and “The Monster” are okay, but really songs I’d skip over as they are a bit bland or poppy for me, but everyone has their own style. “Legacy” is damn right amazing, going about Em’s life and showing off his brighter side of his darker life. “Bezerk” and “Rap God” are actually two singles off the album that are pretty damn good, that give throw backs to Hip-Hop and lightning fast verses. “Stronger Than I Was” and “Headlights” once again show off Em’s easier side with emotionally infused verses, singing, and lyrics that dig deep with raw emotion, especially in “Headlights” when he forgives his mother. “So Far…” is a Southern-rock-ish song that once again just gives Em another chance to show his goofy side. “Evil Twin” ends the album just as great as the album started, with Em battling Shady under an astronomical atmosphere. Overall, his 4th best, under The SSLP, MMLP, and TES, and a solid 9 out of 10.

You should all listen to Eminem – Don’t Front (feat. Buckshot). It is a Bonus Track of the album, that you could only get if you bought both Call Of Duty Ghosts and MMLP2. Eminem said that if he could change something about the album, he would add Don’t Front to it. The song couldn’t make the album in time.

Very good track though. Beat is something like Amityville.
