Transcendental Youth is the tentative name of the fourteenth studio album by the Mountain Goats. The album focuses on outcasts, recluses, the mentally ill, and others struggling in ordinary society. The album is loosely unified around a group of people living in Washington state.

The album involves collaboration with a capella quartet Anonymous 4 and will be arranged by long-time friend Owen Pallett.

      I liked All Eternals Deck a lot. But this album is great too. I have only listened to it all the way through once so I can’t comment on whether or not it’s better, but it’s on par with his previous work, which is tremendous.
