Columns formed in 2003 as an instrumental act with Jason Skipper on drums, Jake Wade on bass and Jake Troth on guitar. In 2004, Adam Cody (Glass Casket, Wretched) joined Columns as vocalist.
Fast forward to 2006 and Columns released their first 3 song self-titled EP. Shortly thereafter, Jake Troth left the band to go to school. From there, Columns brought on new guitarist, John Stone. A 5-song EP was recorded in 2008 and Stone left in 2009.
In 2010, Columns kept the train moving with a 7-song CD titled "Just Another Species". "Just Another Species" was recorded during 2010 with Jason Skipper (Columns drummer) handling the guitar duties. During this time, Michael Lehmann, guitarist from legendary gore-grinders Hemdale, had just relocated to the Charlotte, NC area and was asked to play guest guitar on several tracks of that album.
In 2011, Michael Lehmann permanently joined Columns, solidifying the guitarist spot and allowing the band to press forward. At that point, Columns immediately began playing shows in and around the Charlotte, NC area, opening for such acts as Morbid Angel, Exhumed, and Goatwhore.
In 2013, Columns signed a deal with Relapse Records. The first album, "PLEASE EXPLODE", is slated for a mid-year 2014 release.
