Gargoyle's stage costumes are often designed to portray the band members as being hundreds of years old (the costumes take imagery from ancient cultures and outdated societies).
Gargoyle sometimes tour as "Battle Gargoyle". Under this name they only play fast thrash songs and material from Battle Gargoyle releases. Battle Gargoyle played their first gig at Shibuya On-Air West in Tokyo on July 26, 1997.
Some gigs were played with Misaki on drums, but no official releases were ever recorded with him.
Gargoyle participated on the Japanese metal compilation "Japanese Heavy Metal Tribute: Spirit" covering the Flower Travellin' Band song "Satori Part 1", the Dead End song "Replica" and the follow-up compilation "Japanese Heavy Metal Tribute: Spirit II" covering the 44 Magnum song "No Standing Still." They also participated on a tribute to the Skapunk band Gelugugu, covering the song "Hurry Up", and on the Midoridon "Band Remix Vol. 1" compilation covering the song "Moonlight Boat".
Gargoyle contributed to the Japanese Heavy Metal compilation "Lightning & Thunder" with the songs "Guuzen To Hitsuzen No Tochuu" ("In the Middle of Chance and Certainty"), a re-recording of "Purple Heaven" (originally from "Misogi"), and a hidden track ("Tokyo Yankees Theme").
Gargoyle appear on the compilations "Little By Little And Bit By Bit ~The Omnibus Album For Maniacs~" and "Hard Rock Summit in Osaka", with exclusive live recordings of "Genom" and "Shinu Koto To Mitsuke Tari" (respectively).
Gargoyle played their first gig on the 15th of July, 1987 at Shinsaibashi Bahama in Osaka. They were one of two acts at the gig (the other being Truth), and all members of the band were blonde.
Gargoyle dub their style of thrash the "Mysterious Guerilla Sound".
