The name of the band was derived from the 70s/80s American sitcom of the same name. The reason for naming the group after such was explained by A. Morbid as being because everyone in the show displays "an act of euphoria" and the music composed in Happy Days is "far away from that, I thought the name would be perfect, especially that it catches people off guard and totally messes with their minds."

Happy Days originally started as just a solo project of A. Morbid where he released all three Happy Days demos by himself on all instruments. Before acquiring Karmageddon on drums, Cid participated in a rehearsal, but was never a member of the band.

A. Morbid has also made it clear in an interview that Happy Days officially started in 2004, just material under the name was not released until 2007. He had no way of recording material during the first 3 years of Happy Days so those years were spent writing riffs on an acoustic guitar until he was able to afford a karaoke machine that was used to record the very first Happy Days demos on.

The lyrics on the first three demo releases are sung in Norwegian because A. Morbid reportedly had very personal themes for the songs on those demos and wrote the lyrics by the means of their meanings not becoming so direct to the listener. Another reason why this was done was to pay homage to the Norwegian black metal artists he grew up listening to. He as well was studying the entire language at the time of those recordings.

MAJOR UPDATE 3/18/2015:

Added

So I know I have been silent for a long while now due to personal issues being resolved. But despite a lot of major set backs and a ton of sleepless nights contemplating major life decisions, I wanted to let all of our fans know what exactly is going on regarding Happy Days. So I have good news and I have bad news to share. I will start off by giving you the bad news first.

Bad News:

As of today Karmageddon is no longer in Happy Days. Nothing bad happened nor was it a personal issue. It was a just a simple mutual agreement. In fact I want to personally thank him for his 10+ years of contribution to the band and for all of the help he has given me in order to keep this band going. He has been there since the beginning and I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for everything he has done. He will now be able to move on to bigger and better things with his musical career and i fully support him in all of his choices and decisions. I would also like to add that he will be able to focus more time on our side band(Dreams) and I think that will be a huge step up for us as well as give us a ton of time to focus on that side band we have which im very excited for. Now I know this is going to cause a lot of fans to get upset but please understand there was no fights or anything. This was just a simple mutual agreement between the both of us. I strongly urge the happy days fans to go ahead and like and/or support his other bands that hes in.(Wedard) (Dreams) The links to those pages will be provided at the bottom of this message so please give a like and support his bands as I have done already and will continue to do. I wish him the best on whatever music endeavors he decides to do and I really can't thank him enough for everything that hes done for not just happy days. but for me as a personal friend. please go ahead now and like his other bands that hes in by clicking or copy and pasting the links provided:

Good News:

Despite the loss of a very dedicated drummer, I am pleased to announce that a new band member has joined. B.Devastation will be doing drums on the new upcoming 5th Happy Days album "Save Yourself" and I am very honored to be working with him. For those of you who don't know hes the drummer for bands such as Preteen Deathfuk, Lasanche, and a whole lot more! We have already started tracking drums for the new Happy Days album and we are hoping to provide at least one fully mixed and mastered song for you guys to get a taste of what the upcoming album is going to sound like. I am very much looking forward to hearing what his style of playing and his own creativity will sound like on the new happy days material. This is going to be a very good year for Happy Days!

About the album:

I have officially received the artwork front cover of the upcoming happy days album. It will be called "Save Yourself". That will be the official name for the album for many personal reasons. It will be an 8 page booklet with all the lyrics to the songs included as well as very dark and painful images that will send your world down spiraling. The logo has also been revamped and redesigned. I know that a lot of you might have enjoyed the old logo but I honestly feel that Happy Days is changing and its only going to become better with time. I felt that it was time to embrace change and to expand more. Not only visually but also musically. Now that doesn't mean that there wont be glimpses or small traces of our previous sound, but I've decided to incorporate some new elements. At its core it will still be happy days but a little more matured and evolved. It'll be one of the darkest and most painful album written to date. This album will truly be one of the best albums Happy Days has ever produced, And as time goes on it continues to grow and become so much more. It will definitely touch upon a lot of personal subjects and experiences that I have recently been through. In other words it'll explain why I have been absent and quiet for the passed year. A lot of struggling and a lot of economical failures that I have endured. But that's only just scratching the surface. When the new album comes out, you will all understand the rest.

Click tracking and recording:

As of now we have begun to record drums for the new album. The recording process will resume and we are hoping to have the album finished within the next couple of months. As for the release date goes its still TBA. But if you have any questions please feel free to contact our label (Talheim Rex) for anything. We are very excited to be working with them and I'm very much looking forward to joining their roster of bands. Its also possible that there might be even live shows to come in Germany or Austria if things go the way we want them to go.

That's all for now. More updates coming very soon! Thanks to everyone for their support!

~A.Morbid

Major Update

Good news:

Finally after years of recording and delays, the new album has finally been finished and has been sent to Talheim Records for release. Now before you ask I do not know when the album is going to get released. A link has been provided to get in contact with the label releasing the 5th album so if youre wondering when its going to come out, ask Talheim Records. If I happen to get a release date Ill be sure to let everyone know. Now the waiting game begins. Also Ide like to point out that the album is not fully mastered. The reason why is because of what the album is about and what the album represents to me. To put it simply nothing is perfect. so while you might hear some clipping and static, I chose to leave some of the offensive noises on the album to prove one of the main points of the album. Whether you agree with it or not thats fine. This is what I chose to do and I am very pleased with the end result. WIth that in mind I also would like to announce that after years and years of debate, I am finally going to re record the "drowning in negativity" demo and turn it into another full length album. Yes the songs will be in english and the song titles will be changed. But the music itself will remain the same just much more polished and cleaned up. I might even record one or two songs from my previous releases but I am still uncertain at the moment. But one thing i am sure of is that the 4 songs on the Drowning In Negativity demo will be re recorded and the name of the album will be chosen when the time is right. More info on this will be posted very soon.

Bad news:

SO after much thought I have decided that I am going to put Happy Days on Hold. I feel like I should stop this band at a very high note before It starts to fall. I know most bands start off great with that one demo or album then they begin declining over the years. For Happy Days it was the opposite. my earlier work was unfortunately not good. it could've been so much better but due to finance issues and not having a clue on how to record( I was very young at the time) They ended up sounding horrible.

So with each release I was always one step closer to getting better but it always felt like I could never reach the high point. With this new album i had every chance to reach it but instead i chose to keep it somewhat low quality.. I honestly can't say if Im going to permanently end the band or not because I havent made a final decision on it. But I honestly doubt that I will be recording any new material after the 6th album. Its a shame that I was never able to bring Happy Days to the stage for live shows. I was REALLY hoping to do that but unfortunately it would just be way too expensive to do and no label or sponsor is going to shed out money to a band thats not Taake or Shining. Still it would've been something.. But at the same time maybe this is for the best. that it remains a studio band instead of a live act..still I wish I couldve made it happen for you guys.. More news coming soon.
