The Denver-based Doom quartet of Khemmis quickly became a new personal favorite band last year after the release of their debut album, Absolution. It was six songs of powerful Doom Metal with crisp, clean vocals paired against a searing bellow that shares semblance with the vocal work Mike Scheidt pulls off in the mighty YOB. Khemmis follow in a similar musical trend as Pallbearer or High on Fire, in that it feels like their music soars above the clouds in another stratosphere.
Khemmis is following up Absolution with their second full-length album in as many years. The new album will be called Hunted and it appears to be following in the similar, successful footsteps as its predecessor. 20 Buck Spin will be releasing the album, much like the last, and it was recorded with Dave Otero who was pivotal in creating Absolution's amazing sound. Keep an eye out for advanced songs and more information as time draws closer to the October 21 release date.
