Letters From the Fire is a hard rock outfit from the San Francisco Bay Area. The band returns with a new album, a new singer (Alexa Kabazie) and a new fire that permeates through their new album “Worth The Pain”. Admittedly, I had zero knowledge of this band prior to having my mind blown by “Worth the Pain”. Now, this album has been in heavy rotation on my personal playlist. “Worth the Pain” is a powerful record from front-to-back. The opener “Perfect Life” is a whirling dervish of a song and a great way to get the ball rolling. Throughout the record we get thoughtful and relatable lyrics complete; with great songs with heavy doses of melody. To me the high points were “Give In to Me”, “Last December”, “Holy Ghost” and the emotional ballad “At War”. LFTF definitely adds a hint of bands like Evanescence and Paramore in their sound, but really their style is unrelenting and fierce. There is a lot of vitality and raw-ness running through “Worth the Pain”. This is a tremendous effort and Letters From the Fire is one helluva band. “Worth the Pain” was my introduction to Letters From the Fire and what a great introduction it is. I’m hooked!
