Seattle doom metal group Bell Witch have announced a new album. Mirror Reaper—the follow-up to 2015’s Four Phantoms—consists of one 83-minute song. It’s due out October 20 via Profound Lore. Scroll down to see the cover art, which was painted by Mariusz Lewandowski. Mirror Reaper marks the group’s first album since the death of founding member and drummer/vocalist Adrian Guerra. The lineup for Mirror Reaper includes bassist/vocalist Dylan Desmond, who founded the band with Guerra, as well as Jesse Shreibman (drums, vocals, organ) and “honorary member” Erik Moggridge (vocals). It was engineered and mixed by Billy Anderson.
The band shared in a statement about the record, “During the writing process we were devastated by the loss of our dear friend and former drummer, Adrian Guerra. In love and respect to his memory, we reserved an important yet brief section in the song for him that features unused vocal tracks from our last album. This specific movement serves as a conceptual turn in the piece, or point of reflection. We believe he would be proud of it as well.”
This sounds like it’s going to be epic as hell
