Owls, the short-lived project formed years after the dissolution of Cap’n Jazz, offered a single, self-titled album in 2001 before its members pursued various, yet occasionally interlocking endeavors. After Cap’n Jazz’s brief reunion in 2010, and bassist Sam Zurick’s return to Chicago in 2012, Owls—anchored by the brothers Mike and Tim Kinsella, along with guitarist Victor Villarreal—similarly got back together for the new album Two, which will get a March 25 release on Polyvinyl Records, a label that’s been home to much of each member’s recorded output.
Along with the album announcement comes the debut of the new song “I’m Surprised…”—a title that’s all-too-apt, given its appearance seemingly out-of-nowhere, even while picking up right where the band left off over a decade ago. You can listen to “I’m Surprised…” below, and pre-order Two in various editions (including a Kinsella party-pack) from the Polyvinyl store.
