It’s people like you that cost me my career in the first place. A friend pointed me in the direction of this site.

I worked 14 years of my life to get signed to Roadrunner Records. Gave up everything. The reason I work in a regular job now instead…

You. People like you. Stealing my music. There’s no excuses for stealing music.

Half the reason we’re finishing this album is we’re hoping to pay of some of the debt that we incurred because of people like you.

Jesus, again… No one’s sayin’ he or she I won’t buy it – we’d just like to hear it before the official release.
I guarantee you that I’ll pre order this CD as soon as it becomes available.

Not only do you people have the nerve to steal music from a band that are dependent on income from record sales just to make ends meat, you even have the audacity to argue against them when they speak up in defense of their copyright and censor their comments because of “language” as if that somehow makes you a legitimate site, and not an affiliation of thieves and cretins. Do you think you somehow have a right to steal their music? Do you think they’re somehow out of line for criticising you? Do you not think you owe them a single bit of money, or at least respect, for creating the music that you apparently love so much? You’re nothing but a pack of common criminals, and hiding behind your goddamn PC doesn’t make a shred of difference to that fact. You people don’t deserve to listen to their music. Go to Hell.

Clearly your pussy hurts. We get it. I think the problem with music being downloaded centers more on how the albums get leaked in the first place and nobody seems to be talking about it. You obviously had a shitty label that would punish you for other peoples actions. If everyone who downloaded your album to preview it bought it on release date, how much money was truly lost? I find it impossible to account for losses this way. Not everybody might but there are those of us who do. Like myself. I bought Deftones new album after it came out but in anticipation I downloaded it first. Consider those of us who download because we like the artist and are just anxious. We can’t make everyone buy your album and we don’t live in a society that gives refunds if we think the album is shitty. Maybe a couple weeks before release there could be a streaming of the album so people can preview it and can’t really defend downloading a leak. As a guitarist who has aspirations of making releases myself, my focus has always been on people enjoying my music and if that means at some point someone is stealing my music, then at least its reaching someone. Not everyone can be as noble as those who pay for what they take.

Also, you’re assuming that no one here actually buys music, which was your first mistake. Everyone pretty much understands that touring and merchandise sales go more towards a bands prosperity than album sales. And its not like you couldn’t go on without a major label. Alot of bands have gone independent these days and are highly successful. So this little tirade of yours belittles those who don’t have the luxury of a major label funding an album and promoting a band.
Maybe if you were that concerned with money, you could have started a kickstart campaign (if you didn’t already) to fund the new record so you didn’t have to rely on out of pocket expenses. The music industry has changed, and you must change with it.

Had real fun reading all the comments. All hail to the people who thinks that they can change something by whining on a web page!

I must be honest- as a big fan of Mutiny Within, I find their whining on here to be ridiculous. It’s common knowledge that in the modern market bands make their profits from touring and merch sales, not album sales. Frankly, I never would’ve even heard anything by Mutiny Within had I not downloaded their debut album for free. Had I never heard of them, I wouldn’t have shown them to numerous friends (which I did), and I’d be willing to bet the cycle has continued and Mutiny Within has made money of it. It boggles my mind how someone like Cloudkicker prides himself on creating great music and releasing it for the masses online for free, yet other bands will whine about people downloading it for free, knowing it isn’t going to change the industry. I understand you’ve incurred debt and that is sad….but damn, stop whining; it looks unprofessional and certainly isn’t going to convince anyone to buy your music.

You guys should read about it before posting stuff like you know how it works. Any musician should know that bands don’t make money off touring. Unless you’re Metallica. Record labels want to see sales!! No sales, no money. No money? No touring, no new album. Simple as that.

We are EXTREMELY LUCKY that they are even releasning this album right now.

I disagree, if there are enough fans, bands can make money from touring. Merch sales such as shirts, hats, CDs are great ways for bands to make money. I understand if your on a label and you don’t have record sales then you’re not going to be touring. With all the Independent bands having success these days, I think it’s a great way to go. Leaking music online can be a great marketing tool if used correctly. Also, I love when bands over pre-order specials. Some are lame but some are really worth it. I know the music industry is tough these days, but complaining to us isn’t going to solve it.
