David Gilmour's wife announced on twitter that Pink Floyd is working on an upcoming album, due to October. It's based on the sessions of Division Bell.
"Pink Floyd album out in October is called "The Endless River". Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful."
A source from Pink Floyd has spoken out about their new album, The Endless River - describing the record as"very spacey."
A source told The Sun of the album: "It's not what fans will necessarily expect. The other songs, which David has worked on with Nick Mason, are lengthy instrumentals rather than straight-up rock."
''It's beautiful but not exactly 'Another Brick in the Wall' or 'Wish You Were Here.' It's very spacey.'' ''It's got lots of keyboards from Rick so you can see why the band are calling it his swansong. The track that Gilmour recorded vocals on will be the band's last-ever real song. It's a proper epic and a fitting farewell.''
Back-up singer for the psychedelic rockers, Durga McBroom-Hudson, who toured with the band through the 1980s and 1990s revealed that the recording for the album "did start during The Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled 'The Big Spliff' that [Pink Floyd drummer] Nick mason spoke about). Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it. But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then. It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks."
"It is an album of mainly ambient and instrumental music based on the 1993/4 Division Bell sessions which feature David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright."
"The Endless River has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 Division Bell sessions, when David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason played freely together at Britannia Row and Astoria"

Holy crap, this is actually a thing that’s happening! I can’t believe it! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I’m gonna bust
I’m not sure how I feel about this. If it’s just leftovers, how good can it be? I hope I’m wrong and it’s amazing, but I’m keeping my expectations in check on this one…
Not expecting much, still curious though. At least they have enough great albums to go back to when this one turns out to be horrible.
You say “when” as if you heard all the tracks and already know it’s a stinker.
It’s probably going to be in the same vein as The Division Bell and Momentary Lapse,,, so yeah, I don’t think it’s going to be great. Floyd needs both Waters and Gilmour to be great. But sure, “if” would have been more appropriate.
Division Bell is one of my favourite albums. I really don’t agree with all this ‘Floyd needs Waters’ stuff. Roger Waters best material was well behind him when he left Floyd, and his constant songs about war and politics just got tedious. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love The Wall, Dark side etc, but The Final Cut was pretty poor. I loved the new Floyd, it was refreshing, Gilmour is the true genius behind Floyd, you can keep your clever lyrics, its all about the music for me.
Floyd needs Waters just as much as it needs Gilmour in my opinion. The Final Cut was so poor because it was essentially a Waters album. I’m not even that much of a fan of the Wall, because it’s too much Waters to me. He became too much of a dictator and it’s a good thing he left the band after the Final Cut.
I’d still love to see an album with both Waters and Gilmour (and Mason of course) as a combined creative force. Probably not going to happen, but still.
I really liked the Division Bell so I’m looking forward to this one, even if it’s leftovers. As Dave Mustaine once said: “David Gilmour can do more with one note than most guitarists can do with an entire fret board.” Not really a huge fan of Megadeth but I’m reminded of that quote almost every time Pink Floyd is mentioned.
You can hear the whole of Louder Than Words. It was played in full a few days ago on the radio.
Just google pink floyd Louder Than Words… i’m sure you will find it. Starts off like Division Bell… I like the ending of it more.
I really cant wait for this album. Granted people can debate if it is a Pink Floyd album or not, but now it is Richard Wrights time to show us that he was the man behind the shine with his beautiful piano and instrumental work.

almost, only 6 days :D !
they’re making a great job holding it from leaking… 2 days until the official release is out, and no leak yet!
WOW! What more can I say but, WOW!
Preorders are arriving in Germany so a leak should follow soon!
Can’t believe this hasn’t leaked yet haha. Well done music industry!
Yeah, I am amazed it hasn’t leaked yet. It’s released on Friday in Italy and a few other European countries, so it shouldn’t be too long.
It’s not getting very good reviews, the guy in the Independent really slated it, so I’m not expecting too much.

Finally!
Thanks getmetal, at last. I’ve got the blu-ray on pre-order from Amazon, but I don’t think I could handle waiting until the middle of next week to get a chance to listen to it.
Where do we find this leak ?
Can’t wait to give this a run through
Ummm……….hate to burst all your bubbles, but I’ve had this album for a few days. So, yeah, it was leaked. It is completely BORING !!!!! Gilmour in true form creates nothing but glittering ambiance, with no point, or direction. This album is purely instrumental rehashing of earlier Floyd, that has no depth, or anything solid to anchor too. Then throw in 1 song with words, and you get to see what happens when you mix together Dark Side Of The Moon with Comfortably Numb. Funny that the first single is the only song with words. If you are expecting the same for the rest of album, put your cash away. You can hear this crap by buying 1 of those cheap ambiance machines, that plays sounds of the ocean, or space , or something. Wow, this band is truly anything but a music group without Waters. 1 has to wonder how you actually name any of these songs, because this doesn’t qualify as much more then reissuing early Floyd, in elevator, ambient fashion. Try not to fall asleep, and realize. This is why people download albums. Because 25 bucks doesn’t seem like much to rich artists, because they aren’t the ones who don’t get their cash back, when they are served up complete garbage. They say this is the last Floyd album??? LOLOLOL If this is what Gilmour calls creative music. Thank God. After finishing up listening to this album. I felt as tired out, bored, lethargic, and old as David Gilmour. I need Waters to spark brilliance back in the places that Gilmour sucked it out of.
It has no lyrics! it’s not music guys!
Exactly how deep is your head up your own arse man?
Ive been waiting for a new floyd album for YEARS im only 19 but i love pink floyd, i still remember the very first song i ever heard by them, i was see emily play and i fell in love with the band that day.
I’ve been listening to the album today and I have been enjoying it quite a lot actually. I enjoyed the ambient and instrumental work that was done on The Division Bell and The Momentary Lapse of Reason and was excited to hear more music like that from that period. Since this is a continuation of work that was done during the Division Bell sessions, it makes complete sense of why these songs are the way they are. Some of the songs are a throwback to Ummagumma which was a nice change since it was really there roots I thought. The beautiful piano work that Richard Wright done is amazing and brings every song together with a flow. The last track is the only song that has lyrics and singing involved. It kind of tied it all to the end basically. I believe that you cant really listen to this album, 1 song here and 1 song there, it needs to be listened to fully with no pauses in that session. It will come together a lot more then. Is this a true Pink Floyd album? Well that is up to the listener. I believe from a listener stand point that it is from what Ive addressed above.
Mixed feelings about this one, so glad to hear some “new” tunes but actually, the word “tunes” might be an overstatement.
