The Einstürzende Neubauten created in the studio with her new album, "LAMENT" a musical work to the outbreak of the First World War 100 years ago, which will be premiered on November 8, 2014 in Diksmuide, Belgium.
With this work, the band will explicitly link their standing in the tradition of the avant-garde techniques with this first, the entire world shattering world events.
There were more extensive research of sound recordings from the years 1914-1916 of prisoners of war from around the world (recorded in one of the first large camp near Berlin) from the sound archive of the Humboldt-University of Berlin and the German broadcast archive instead. In addition, extensive material in Dresden Military History Museum was spotted and heard, that has gone well in the composition.
There are music history connections of two of the oldest musical forms, the "LAMENT", a dirge and the "motet" a Flemish Renaissance composer who is the biblical story of the prodigal son treated, woven and processed to the sound recordings of prisoners of war.
Even the music of the legendary "Harlem Hell Fighters" the first African-American fighting force, the first time was in WW1 used, as this was "borrowed" by the Americans to the French in order to gain rediscovered and experiences a belated recognition.
The instruments of the new buildings of steel, voice, objets trouvés and innovative technology is expanding this with a string ensemble.
This is not a concert on the first world war but a composition that out peels out of the topic: "first you have to make room for something new to be created" (Blixa Bargeld).
