Xanthochroid Of Erthe and Axen

Xanthochroid just released their new single "To Higher Climes Where Few Might Stand" from their forthcoming album "Of Erthe and Axen". This track tells the story of Ereptor's long-awaited return from his conquests in Erthe as he and Thanos are reunited after many years apart. A prequel to the story told in "Blessed He With Boils" (debut album 2012), this album tells of the events that tear the brothers apart and send the world of Etymos into darkness.

Matthew's Words:

Hey friends! Y'all have been so incredibly patient with us while we slush around in this cold, brackish water!

Let me give a little update on the status of the new album:

Writing/Recording: DONE*

Orchestration: DONE (with the exception of a mockup of the overture on the 1st disk)

Mixing: Really really close. I just reamped the guitars this last week and things sound so much better so this won't take long.

*We have one more track we are adding to the 2nd disk which shouldn't take long.

Here is some more miscellaneous info on the album

- two disks

- around 95 minutes in length

- 16 tracks

- story takes place before Blessed He With Boils and Incultus

- some of the material in this album is as old as the band!

- its going to be pretty sick, get stoked :)

SO! basically, shit should be wrapping up with the actual album production before long and then we can focus on packaging and promotion and getting everyone on the Xantho-hype-train. and then..... before you know it you can waste a significant portion of time listing to our music :D

As you can see, mixing and producing the album took it's toll on Matthew, but we are proud to announce that he is finally allowed to come out of his cage and have his nose re-installed! (Your nose really just gets in the way when mixing)

Yes! It is that time, expect updates, teasers, and tons of awesome news from the Xanthocrew. Here are a few things we can say right now:

- Approximate runtime is over 95 minutes

- It is bigger, deeper, and more dynamic than any of our previous releases

- We pushed our voices to the extreme

- Evokes the feeling and grandeur of an Opera or Musical stage performance

- Takes Xanthochroid's storytelling aspect to a new level

- It is a double album, and it will be released in two parts

(Act I, Act II)

- Both Acts will be released this year

- We are remaining 100% independent in this release; no labels

- We have exciting and innovative ideas for releasing this album, every fan can be involved in a meaningful and rewarding way!

We have been working with an incredible artist from Germany, Jana Heidersdorf, for the cover art and layout illustrations. We couldn't be happier with her work, so check out her page to get an idea of what is coming.

Hey everyone! Just want to make a few things clear for you guys!

So, as you may have noticed, there are only four of us in this photo. Bryan Huizenga is still with us as a live guitarist, but (as you may have noticed), we haven't performed live as a band since 2014! So most of the photos and videos you see will feature the four of us who were involved in the recording process for this album: Sam, Matthew, Brent, and Ali.

That doesn't mean we aren't going to perform live, but we are focusing our energies on getting this album into the hands of as many people as possible. Considering we are an independent, unsigned band, and will remain so for the foreseeable future; touring opportunities are very few at the moment, but we are excited to see what opportunities this album will create for us!

From the most brutal and chilling moments, to the most peaceful and intimate; this album contains the most dynamic music Xanthochroid has ever produced; we hope to someday bring you a live production which matches this sonic journey!
