In June 2014, a single was released on SoundCloud. It was titled “OctaHate”, and uploaded by Ryn Weaver (real name Aryn Wuthrich). At first, it was unnoticed. But soon, it grew. And grew. And grew. “OctaHate” had grown popular, but was put in the spotlight when Charli XCX brought it up on Twitter (XCX had worked on the track with Benny Blanco and Weaver). It knocked FKA twigs’s “Two Weeks” off the Emerging Artists Twitter + Billboard Number One spot. Ryn is planning on releasing her debut album in early 2015, and “OctaHate”‘s music video just hit the 500,000 view mark. Weaver has made one of the catchiest and powerful tunes of 2014, and it is more than likely to become a bigger hit in the New Year.
