The legit version of Daft Punk’s single “Get Lucky”

News postThere’s been a lot of speculation regarding the supposedly leaked radio edit of Daft Punk’s first single “Get Lucky” from the forthcoming Random Access Memories album. Well, tonight we can all end that debate as the single will get an official release.

A day or two after the Saturday Night Live ad had ran, fan made versions which contained loops and mash-ups of the promotional versions of “Get Lucky”, began popping-up. But two days ago, a version labeled “the real radio edit”, featured unheard vocals from collaborator Pharrell Williams. But confusion began when certain fans claimed this also was a fake, since Pharrell had uttered the exact same lyrics in an interview posted on Youtube and they believed a talented producer had managed to put this into the ad. Phew.

Get LuckyWell. The radio edit version was indeed legit – At least according to MTV. And tonight, at midnight, the single finally gets its proper official release. But surely the next round of new track leaks are just around the corner. And we can certainly expect more fake songs than actual legit ones – Including the numerous discussions about its legitimacy. But isn’t this waiting game part of the fun?

One track down. 12 more to go.

Below is the radio version premiering on a dutch station, which has been confirmed as legit.
