What happens if you get caught running a music piracy forum in the UK? According to The Guardian, Kane Robinson and Richard Graham who ran a forum called DancingJesus shared 22,500 links to 250,000 individual titles between 2006 and 2011. The site gained 70 million visits during its run and prosecutor David Groome claimed that 46 of the 50 best-selling singles of 2010/11 were leaked to DancingJesus before release.

Kane Robinson, 26, was jailed for two years and eight months. Richard Graham, 22, was jailed for 21 months.

Jeremy Banks, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry’s director of anti-piracy, added: “The illegal uploading of pre-release music can have a potentially devastating impact on the commercial success of an artist, making it more difficult for them to maintain a career in music. I would like to thank the authorities in the UK and the US for their work in resolving this case.”
