(Not official album cover)
an excerpt from Jesse (drummer):
Warmed and humbled by the unexpected outpouring of thoughts and wishes from so many since Saturday. My sincerest thanks to all of you. My father was a lifelong poet and a passionate music lover, a free-spirited eccentric who would literally glow with pride and dance without inhibition whenever he saw Ben, Tommy, and myself perform live (ask anyone at a Jukebox show in Boston between 2007 and 2012). We spoke frequently while the band was writing, arranging, and recording the new album from May through March, and I reported to him regularly about how excited and proud I was of the album already and that I couldn't wait to play it for him.
Despite his growing illness, my father did not want to interrupt my pursuit of music and creativity. He beamed with life knowing that I was "going for it", since he too was an artist and a performer (yes, I'll post a link to his top-notch career "highlights" in The Terminator and (personal fav) as Captain Hook in an 80's Peter Pan Peanut Butter commercial... another time :) ...).
Just a few weeks ago we sat down together and I played for him most of "Safe Travels". That listening would prove to be one of our final moments together, but one in which he stated "you can really make out the words on these songs" and that the record was, indeed, "wonderful".
I'd just like to humbly thank you all for all of your thoughts and support, and break the ice here by saying that my dad says "carry on and make art!" I will be laying low and reflecting while my amazing bandmates Ben and Tommy, our incredible manager Seth, and our fabulous label Yep Roc continue to scheme and unfold our big Spring/Summer plans and quests for world domination. Besides, I still promised my old man a house on a lake : ) .
Much love and 'Safe Travels' always,
xo Jesse
Probably the best album information I’ve seen posted to the site. I came here for the temporary album art but I will certainly pick this up on it’s release day.
