This is the sixth album from the UK group. Wolstenholme stated that the next Muse album would be ?something radically different? from their prior releases. It?s titled The 2nd law and is due out in October. And yes, the album trailer contained elements of dubstep, making some fans furious.
New single, "Madness", is out. And it's not what you think it is. Discussion is below.
I hate DUBSTEP!
To be more precise, notice how the instruments are al acoustic, the drums are acousticly recorded, and the “dubstep” effects are actually just guitar and bass riffs mixed together.
Still dubstep……. Wob wob wob
…and DUBSTEP hates you!
I hate dubstep too! Muse being my very favorite band, I was quite disappointed when I heard the album trailer back in June. But, after realizing they took what any moron could do with the click of a button and turned it into something not many people could do, I was refreshed and remembered, “Oh yeah. Muse doesn’t suck, therefore, THEY WON’T MAKE SUCKY MUSIC!” I love it. But, yeah. I really hate dubstep. lol
where can i download the album?
The album isn’t leaked yet.
You can listen to the stream they got on their website http://www.muse.mu
I’m not too fond of bands just adding dubstep-like tunes/sounds to their music because it’s ‘popular’, and I’ve got the feeling this is the exact reason for MUSE to do this… Since I can’t really judge from a 2 minute trailer (which started really nice to be honest) I’ll just have to wait for (a leak of) their album before bursting into a rage :p
And I cannot explain how wrong you are, but I’ll try.
Muse have never, ever been a band who create music to please people. They do it because they like it, and to be honest, that’s quite rare in this day and age. Matt said something along the lines of “We didn’t like that people go to gigs to watch a person on a laptop so we played it instrumentally”. It’s a dubstep-inspired track, that was not intended to please everyone.
its not dubstep. Its just matt’s guitar playing skills.
dubstep has dirty and heavy bass.
Really hope that that trailer is a bit of a joke… Call it what you like, Muse excelled at guitar heavy progressive rock. Orchestral, Electro started filtering in during BH&R, continued on in Resistence with sampled beats and melodies, and now moving into dubstep? This is so so so far removed from the band I used to love… ._.
Don’t be a twat, MUSE has always experimented with different sounds and instruments (like most good artist do). If you just like hearing the same stuff over and over then just stay away from the new stuff.
Dubstep in the Trailer, Brostep in the Full Album… Srsly?
I’m not too fond of dubstep but the trailer is WAY too short to judge how their next album will sound.
Anyway, The Resistance leaked only 7 days prior to the release date so I’m not expecting a leak until september…still a long way too go :-(
Matt’s been using ‘dubstep sounds’ in his music for years… the heavy bassey guitar drops and tones are —> almost <— a rock equivalent to dubstep. Anyway about 50 seconds of dubstep in one video preview isn't much to go by. Lets wait and see :D

The Muse logo usually goes in the left corner
+ “Themusearmy” above the logo: yeah right.
Ah ah ah !! I don’t know if you remember the previous album artwork ^^ So, allow me to doubt it.
New single tomorrow
What’s that artwork? Any reliable source?
Muse are still in the process of finishing their forthcoming album. According to what they said, it’s very diverse, with a bigger emphasis on groove. And I don’t think at all that the artwork will look like this.
The Olympic single, “Survival”, the official song for this year’s Olympic Games in London, is on the new album. Matt Bellamy said about it : “you can’t really go much further than that in terms of silliness, craziness and epic-ness.
Moreover, he revealed there were also plans to release another single pretty stripped down and minimal.
Can’t wait !
Cheers!
It’s not dubstep
Since I can’t edit my own release, here’s the tracklisting:
[Edit: Added, thanks!]
The 2nd Law will be released with the option of a bonus DVD on September 17th, according to a reliable source. Like many previous Muse releases, the bonus DVD will include a ‘Making of The 2nd Law’ documentary, plus ‘Extras’ (maybe footage from The Resistance tour?).
The news is backed up by a marketing document recently leaked on Twitter. The document revealed details surrounding the album’s launch, promotion and release formats.

ALBUM COVER REVEALED: http://muse.mu/news/article/791/the-2nd-law-album-cover-revealed/
Seriously..?
Anyone who thinks this song contains dubstep elements doesn’t know Muse, let alone music. Sounds like a down-tuned (and/or effected) guitar to me; many bands use this guitar sound, most of the time bands under the “Hardcore/Metal” genre.
I know it’s just as trendy to hate dubstep as it is to love it,
but don’t let it ruin the album for ya!
Muse is amazing, can’t wait!
Matt himself has said there’s only one or two tracks that contain “Dubstep” elements, they’re just experimenting as they always do, don’t expect the whole album to be some Dubfest. It’ll be Muse turned up a notch in creativity and epicness, as always, trying to top the previous album.
and btw, updated album cover: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m86dyniiIE1ry007xo1_500.jpg
” trying to top the previous album.”
i lold hard
Amazing… “Those who say this contains “dubstep” doesn’t know Muse”.
Queue Muse to admit to adding “dubstep” to two tracks on the new album.
We know what we hear, and it sucks. I, however, have faith that this album will rock. Survival is sick.
Unsustainable is now fully released for people who preordered the .mu version. You can find the song plus the full video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhKVych80ME&feature=youtu.be
“Unsustainable” is pure genius to me. The perfect combination of classical, dubstep sound made with authentic instruments, the backing vocals and Matt Bellamy’s voice which gives goosebumps. And, of course, the sublime video by Tom Kirk which makes the whole even more fantastic.
I completely agree with you, I remember being sceptical about it when the trailer was first released, but I truly love the track, wish it was longer and a bit more varied though.
Yeah, plus Isolated System is also going to get a video that’s going to be released with the album and is a supposedly continuation of the Unsustainable vid. (Obviously of the song too, T2L really loos like they finally have a try at an concept album)
And then we’ll also get Madness next week, probably the music video soon after that since they already shot it in the past few weeks.
I’m interested in how this one turns out.
Are you guys serious? Unsustainable may be the worst and most laughable song ever created in human history.
I don’t see why you are being so negative. What do you want, the same type of songs from their previous albums over and over again? I think that each album has a style not to be compared to every other album. If you don’t like how they are evolving, you aren’t a true fan after all
Advice : Do not feed the troll.
Shut up already.
seth > this title belongs to “Feral” by Radiohead.
Feral, is pretty awesome bro…
So here is “Madness”.
What do you think?
