As the title might suggest, the newest and 14th official release from the ambient-rock project The Album Leaf represents both a return to form as well as a huge creative leap in a new direction. Never content or settled within a particular sound, leader and multi-instrumentalist Jimmy LaValle recruited a new cast of players to contribute to the EP which is the first to be recorded in his new home studio. The result is both sweepingly cinematic and thoroughly controlled, lovingly refined as well as ambitiously experimental. LaValle sings in the forlorn "Under the Night," "We're starting over again," but longtime fans will still hear the beauty they've come to expect from The Album Leaf as well as seven entirely new reasons to love where they're headed.
