Avenged Sevenfold have revealed the album cover, title, and release date for their highly anticipated sixth studio album. Titled Hail to the King, the record will be released on August 27. All the details were uncovered via an online scavenger hunt that led fans to different websites, including RevolverMag.com, that were hosting puzzle pieces. Avenged Sevenfold will also be playing a free show at the Hollywood Palladium on August 26 to celebrate the album release.

So I’m sure a lot of you have had the chance to take the album in.. So, what is your favorite song so far if you had to pick one off of this album?
I really like Coming Home, but all of them are amazing
Probably Requiem. Planets is def close second.

My quick review of the album, track by track.
1. Shepherd of Fire- you’re going to love it. it definitely has that “groove” style that M. Shadows was talking about. 5/5
2. Hail to the King- great song, great chorus, powerful feel. the guitars though didn’t cut it for me for this song. 4/5
3. Doing Time- (edit) I relistened to this song over and over and decided it’s a 3/5. it’s not A7x’s best material, but it’s a much faster paced song compared to the other songs on the album, so thats something
4. This Means War- epic song, great guitars, heavy beat. pretty much flawless. 5/5
5. Requiem- the chorus doesn’t really stick and it’s a bit repetitive. the choir and orchestra sound is really great though. 3/5
6. Crimson Day- this songs really boring. did not enjoy at all. reminded me of “Welcome Home Sanitarium” from Metallica but worse. 2/5
7. Heretic- it takes a few listens, but this is a catchy and good song, i definitely like. 5/5
8. Coming Home- decent chorus, AMAZING SOLO. I loved it a lot. one of my favorite solos since M.I.A. 5/5
9. Planets- epic song. simple but powerful chorus. it was good. 4/5
10. Acid Rain- that blues/groove feel that M. Shadows was talking about is in here. It’s very sad sounding but very good. Great way to end the record. 5/5

If you’re using an iphone/ipod right now, try and see if you can stream it from the itunes app. I’m not 100 percent sure if you can do that though.

After listening to the album, i can say with complete confidence that these guys are the next Metallica. They play so many styles across this album that it is just insane. Im glad to say that im an Avenged Sevenfold fan, and always will be
I can’t believe you people love this. They are acting like jimmy Sullivan never existed. I hear nothing on this album that sounds like the rev and he is a key component of A7X, alive or dead. Don’t feel you have to love this just because you love avenged. I love avenged but don’t live this album.

Can’t decide which one is my favorite so far… first I thought it was Coming Home or Acid Rain but after a few hours I also really like Requiem and This Means War… so hard to choose.

Itunes says that it is explicit, yet there are no real explicit words from what I have heard.
Maybe it’s a mistake. One of five finger death punch’s albums has all songs labeled as explicit even though they’re not.
