Could St. James be that acoustic song that was supposedly leaked from their site? I cannot find the link to it, however. Does anybody know what I’m talking about? It kind of sounded like Zacky singing… even if it wasn’t I still liked the song. I’m probably way off here though.

So Hail to the King comes out on the 21st of August in Argentina. Right now in Argentina it is August 20th 7:35pm. So in five hours, assuming they get it right at midnight, will they have access to St James? I wanna hear it.

Ok now I remember that. People say it’s not them and that it is Rhapsody of Fire. Plus that video came out a whole two months before Avenged started getting everyone pumped up for the new album. I don’t think it’s them.

Interesting. Wikipedia says Synyster Gates is the lead vocals on St James. Didn’t know that until now.

To be honest it was a bit of a disappointment for me.. It had 2good songs 2 decent and the rest was just way out of normal from A7X.. :s and everybody always thought that now is gonna be the time they take us back to Waking the Fallen and City of Evil. It is still worth a listen and give it your own opinion. i would rate the album for something around 5-6 out of 10

OH really. Why don’t you listen to This means war, then listen to Sad But True by Metallica, then tell me how you feel. I haven’t listened to it all the way through but there are several songs that have VERY similar composition to that old school “metal”/ rock n roll..

That’s what they were going. An old school classic metal sound.

There is, however, a difference between going for a classic metal sound and basically lifting one of the more memorable metal verses in existence. It wouldn’t have taken much for them to distance This Means War from Sad But True. I find the album incredibly solid, but that really was a misstep.

Man this is Metalicas best album yet!! Wait… Crimson day is Nothin else matters. This means war is sad but true. The only song that sounds like A7X is doing time and that song is week. Come on now. You already got in trouble for stealing Overkills logo, then in trouble for the album work for this album looking too much like Lich Kings. There should be a cat symbol instead of A7X for copy Cats!

You only compared 2 of 11 songs to Metallica (and honestly if you’re a fan of either you’d know they aren’t all that similar) yet you say it sounds like a Metallica album?
Also, Overkill didn’t create the winged skull; google new england tombstones and you’ll see plenty.
I find it funny how you commented trying to come off as a smart ass and end up looking ignorant as hell.

Since others have done this, I suppose I will. I give the album a 9/10. I think it’s by far their best work. I actually after listening about 6 times think Hail to the King was the weakest song. And I think it’s a great song, so that’s saying something.
Shepherd of fire- when it comes to intro songs I think this really continued the trend that avenged had for having great Intros. Do I like it more than previous album Intros? I would have to see it live to tell. A great song. Syns solo is awesome, I love it here.
Hail to the king- a solid song through and through. Gives a good example of how the album was going to sound when it was the single we only had.
Doing time- reminds me of demons off diamonds in the rough. I’m not entirely wild about his vocals through the chorus but I love the rest of the song and love the energy. It’s growing on me.
This means war- yes, it has a fair amount of similarity to sad but true it had beginning and rift parts, but this song is one of the better ones. Great solo, and Matt’s voice shows it’s power.
Requiem- this song has power all through it. I love how syns solo comes in. The choir is awesome. Again, well written and done well by every member.
Crimson day- a solid song. It reminds me a little of So far away. Not much to say, but it doesn’t really need a lot said about it.
Heretic- I don’t think this song gets as much love. I personally love Matt’s voice and like how it does have an older sevenfold sound ( CoE). Listen to this a couple times, it’s great.
Coming home- this is a song that many people have picked to be their favorite and for good reason; this is a really upbeat song that to me is a polar opposite of crossroads lyrics with that it has what seems to be a religious twist in the second verse. This is just an enthusiastic song with great emotion.
Planets- one of my favorites. It’s just a terrifying evil awesome sounding song. It reminds me of an epic battle ( which is what they were going for ) the orchestra parts are welcomed as always.
Acid rain – pure emotion. Almost made me cry when I first heard it, I thinks lyrically it’s one of Matt’s best songs. A truly epic ending to this album.
