St. James is out. I’d trade into the album for Doing Time. It’s upbeat and a good closure song for the Rev. Not “heavy”, but still pretty solid. Has more of that Avenged feel from older albums. Really dig it.

    Shepherd of Fire – 9.5/10

(Love the lyrics and the intro is insane. When I listen to this I think that the “Shepherd of fire” is in fact Satan. Matt also sings “I´ve got a storybook of my own.” A real slap in the face for many hardcore christians, love it! :P)

Hail to the King – 8/10

(I´ve played this track thousands of times and it´s still amazing, not many tracks can pull that of for me, I keep coming back for more)

    Doing Time – 8.5/10

(It´s a casual but upfront powersong and I love the low vocals which Matt pulls of very well, the solo is amazing as well, nicely done by Gates)

    This Means War – 7.5/10

(I´ve not really given this track a fair chance yet, but as I feel now I can only give it 7.5 as a score, which is damn low for this album since it´s probably the best album I´ve heard in a long while)

    Requiem – 7.5/10

(Just as with This Means War, I´ve been so busy with listening to the other tracks which are a tiny bit more amusing to my ears, however, the intro, verse and stick are top notch)

    Crimson Day – 9/10

(I love Avenged Sevenfold´s slower balladlike songs, the melodies and vocals are always a pleasure to listen to, the lyrics in this song seriously touches my heart, very well done)

    Heretic – 7/10

(Judging by you other guys here I might be the weird one when it comes to Requiem, This Means War and Heretic. Misunderstand me right… Heretic is an amazing track that I (as a songwriter) can´t pull off just yet but it is, for me, the weakest track on the record)

    Coming Home 9.5/10

(The strongest chorus on the record for sure, the lyrics give me a feeling of hope and “trust”. The outro gives me the chills every time I listen to this song)

    Planets – 9/10

(Matt really release his powers in this chorus, PLAAANEETS COOOOLIIIIIIDE! It gives me shivers and the orchestra really isn´t a bad move for this song, I love it when classical instruments meet with metal. F*cking genious)

    Acid Rain – 10/10

(This is probably the best Matt has ever been when it comes to lyrics, this song is truly a masterpiece. In my top 5 songs of all time for sure. When I listen to this song I tend to close my eyes and just enjoy the crap out of every second of Hail to the Kings last song. The ending so beautifully matches with the intro of Shepherd of Fire. When you loop the album listen to the rain in Acid Rain´s ending and then the crackling fire in Shepherd of Fire´s intro. Amazing)

    Album rating: 10/10

The best album that the music showbizz has seen in a very long time.

Adding up and dividing your total yields an 8.5 out of 10. Confused how you only rate one song as a 10/10 but give the entire album that score…. I really feel like this album is an 8.5/10, so I can agree with the conclusion your individual reviews total out to.

I rated the album and tracks individually. All the tracks are amazing just that the album starts of with an amazing intro and ends with 3 superb tracks and that needs to be complimented :)

Well, now that St. James is out, I think I can put my albums in order from favorite to least favorite…
Self titled > Nightmare > Diamonds In The Rough > City Of Evil > Waking The Fallen > Sounding The Seventh Trumpet > Hail To The King
Other than Planets and maybe Coming Home, there aren’t that many memorable songs on this album. Each of the other albums has at least three memorable songs to me, this one just doesn’t have that many. And no, I’m not hating on the band as I’m a big fan, I’m just giving my honest opinion.

Now why did I get a down vote? I’m not saying the album was bad, its just definitely not my favorite from them.

I felt a bit like that at first too but after listening to the album a few times, some songs have grown on me and I think, as a whole, the album is great.

Why do so many people care about downvotes so much? I’ve seen at least 3 people complain about getting them. Who freakin’ cares? Besides, I’d downvote you too for ranking the White album as their best work, and both Waking the Fallen and Hail to the King in the lower half of their work, and City of Evil below Diamonds in the Rough.

Well when you got some asshole downvoting every comment solely based on the fact that they don’t like Avenged Sevenfold period, then it merits people complaining about it.

So what? They aren’t in the conversation, and you are letting something so petty get in the way of enjoying a very solid album. With how badly this band is trolled by haters, the fact this thread is only drawing people who clock arrows instead of posting hateful nonsense is amazing.

So the fuck what. You are doing the same damned thing by commenting “why do you care so much? God that’s so petty.” Practice what you preach please.

Because the whining about it annoys me. No one’s opinion is above criticism and if you don’t like someone’s opinion, DEAL WITH IT. It’s complaining for absolutely no reason, whilst I am complaining because those silly “wah wah why did I get downvoted” take up space and add absolutely nothing to the conversations about this album.

And are your “why do you even care” posts adding to the conversations of the album? NO. So shut the fuck up already and stop bitching about what others have said. Your not helping, and neither is this pointless argument.

You are the one who made an argument about this. You are the one that gives a damn about stupid votes. Over the course of time, if people dropped complaining because of downvotes because it was called out as stupid, the benefit outweighs the cost.

Nope. Someone said “I love how they went with an older metal feel with this album.” And of course some asstard downvotes it. I say “Who downvoted this?” BOOM here comes lx_DrYCeLL_xl with his “Why do you care? This is so petty. I have seen three people complain of this. OMG why do people care OMG OMG OMG this is so petty”

            Retard

Morons like you are the reason I hate fandoms so much. You didn’t make any new point here and resorted to name calling. Now you are just wasting my time, schmuck. Have fun not ever agreeing with people and getting in stupid fights that share your opinion on the real reason we’re all here. Later, punk.

Okay, clearly neither of our arguments were constructive in any way. Resorting to name calling surely wasn’t the way to set my point across, and it really never should in any context. Being that we are both fans of Avenged Sevenfold, I’m assuming, let’s just stop this feeble argument because there is no real purpose to it. Fans shouldn’t bicker about the most exiguous of things. Sorry.

because this album is definitely better than sounding the seventh trumpet and diamonds in the rough. I personally think diamonds is the worst and sounding the seventh trumpet comes right after that.
