Ryan Morrison is an English/Irish singer who is currently working on a debut solo studio album after 3 group albums with his band, Ryan's first solo song "Popular Song" was a featuring role with Ariana Grande and Mika (see Ariana Grande - Yours Truly) the song gradually grew in popularity and now has tens of thousands of views on YouTube, he next released "Kiss On My ft. Nicki Minaj" (which no longer features in his album) and that quickly surpassed 20,000 views in a matter of hours, before its availability was limited to a few countries due to its mature content, Ryan's second official single "The Only Exception" is available now but is not being promoted yet, Ryan's debut solo album is expected some time in late 2014 following the release of his 3rd single, Ryan quoted "the album is highly influenced by Selena Gomez's album Stars Dance and has the same sound and feel, but has more slow songs, i've also written the majority of the songs for this album and have worked with some amazing online based producers and received some incredible backing tracks and song demo's, I'm really excited but scared for this album to be released" - taken from Ryan's MTV page! - To read full bio of Ryan Morrison head over to MTV via this link http://www.mtv.com/artists/ryan-morrison/

Despite being due for the 23rd of July, Ryan Morrison has promised his debut solo album Redemption will be out in August.

Redemption is the standard issue teen pop album from a standard issue teen pop singer, however this album includes stand out features which make it different to all of the other "teenie bopper pop star albums" which have passed.

The first thing that i would like to note is the fact Ryan writes most of his own songs, and co-writes almost all of the rest, only one song (#DriveDrive) wasn't written by Ryan, however was written for him.

Redemption is a step up in maturity for teen singers, Ryan has notably displayed extreme levels of sex, obscenity and strong language in songs prior to this album, Redemption however is a lot calmer, and lacks all 2 out of 3 of these features, the album contains very mild language and the scarce use of this is often overlooked and forgotten, the album also lacks the obvious sexual content, and instead contains a more playfully suggestive form of content, for fans of Ryan this will be a very calm, clean and playful album, however for the regular teen musician fans like Beliebers, Mahomies and Directioners, this will be a step up in maturity and may seem somewhat odd compared to the squeaky clean albums of their young idols. Redemption is also very different in sound to much of the teen music that has passed, albums like Justin Bieber - My Worlds and One Direction - Up All Night contain the standard bubblegum pop sound expected from their genre, Redemption however is equipped with bass heavy club tracks, EDM powered dance songs and dubstep layered build-ups, these are some of the elements which contribute to the album's mature sound.

Redemption has been praised and criticised in many aspects, the initial image, sound and feel of the album has been considered "a standalone feel to everything else existent in the young mainstream music industry", however the album has also been criticised due to the overuse of EDM and lack of real life instruments, critics have also said "its almost as if Ryan's voice is trying to fight all the vocal effects used on it, but instead of making anything better is just making the songs sound like the effects are unnecessary, songs like Ghost Of You have lead me to believe Ryan doesn't require as much autotune on songs like #DriveDrive as he is using".

Overall Redemption is an excellently playful yet serious album from a singer who has failed to deliver in the past, the album has so much potential in the mainstream market, You're That Girl has the potential to be a worldwide number 1, its lyrics are both beautiful and brilliant, and could easily bring a smile, or a happy tear to any insecure young girls face, where as songs like Controversy could easily fill a dance floor in a crowded nightclub and become a Billboard number 1 in the same night, the album has so much potential, how this potential is used will decipher how well the album does in the world.
