Increasingly prolific Ann Arbor native Shigeto has announced he will drop a new LP called No Better Time Than Now via Ghostly this August, sharing a stream of the record's engrossing first single in the process. While the full details of the upcoming album have yet to surface, Shigeto's "Detroit Part 1" is an unmistakably jazz-flavored instrumental which shuffles along with live percussion and picks up a gorgeous melodic run of thumb-piano plucks during its second half. The upcoming No Better Time Than Now LP is set to drop on August 20, but before then, it appears Ghostly will release "Detroit Part 1" as a standalone 12" on June 17.

too mainstream, deleting his music from iTunes
It’s sad that people dismiss artists just because they are starting to become popular, especially because this certain artist has talent that deserves to be recognized. Try to let got of your ego, and try not to give a shit about what other people think of your musical preferences. Listening exclusively to obscure/underground music doesn’t make you cool…
first, this is mainstream? second, i’m not sure what is worse. liking something because it is “mainstream” or disliking it because it is “mainstream.” both seem equally lame.
totally forgot i posted this, i was pretty much trolling lol. i meant it as a joke because shigeto is the opposite of mainstream. jk jk guys i love me some shigeto-san, i bought all his releases so far.
