After making a glorious return with last year’s Top 10 album ‘Cheeky For A Reason’, which received numerous glowing reviews and also saw them winning Best Album 2012 at the Sunday Mail’s Great Scotland Awards and Album of the Year 2012 at The Scottish Music Awards, The View have compiled some of their finest moments to date on the ‘Seven Year Setlist’ album which will be released on June 17th on Cooking Vinyl.
“The idea of creating a Trilogy”, says David, “was to give us the opportunity to rediscover and develop our music by digging deep down into our creative minds and writing and recording a lot of music over a period of time, allowing it to grow and become our own.”
The album is drenched in enchanting production; subtle glitches and sweeping atmospheric strings appear throughout the compositions adding to the mystical adventure you're taken on as a listener. Tracks like Astral Ship, Red Eyed Zebra and The Ghost Hour show off the experimental electronic side to the duo’s production, while the huge Lazarus breaks out into punchy rave like synth lines and splintering percussion, topped with Elin’s emotive soft vocal melody, showing their aptitude at writing hook filled pop tracks. There is a magical feeling instilled through the album, a feeling that recalls the infamous fairy tales set within the majestic Scandinavian landscapes.
