There was a time when Gothenburg, Sweden was home to an obscene amount of talent. Studio made subtly-weeded beach jams; the Tough Alliance stared down pop music and wrenched out its skeleton while keeping their songs sweet; Little Dragon are massive. And there's also the Embassy, a duo that sounds like each and has also influenced them all. Here, Embassy interpolate guitar jangle and jaunty bass with bird calls and husky, thin vocals. It's could be tacky if Embassy didn't have such a deep understanding of restraint. Each one feels like it exists in exactly the right place for exactly as long as it needs to, adding up to a breezy pop song by a duo that cares too much about breezy pop songs to ever phone one in.
