The Neighbourhood premiered their newest song “Silver” yesterday on BBC Radio 1 with Zane Lowe. It’s phantasmal riffs dejected into galactic beats and perfectly described by Jesse as music for a “strip club in space.” Except as I imagine it, it’s a gritty strip club scene in a film directed by Harmony Korine. Jesse goes on to explain “It’s a diary of songs inspired by thoughts while on the road covering lots of different ground. It’s our freedom to explore popular music as we know it. It’s just not just us as a band; it’s us at a sound.” It’s Neighbourhood meets Depeche Mode with a tenacious twist of almost supernatural sounds. It’s a gutsy musical departure from I Love You. and I am enamored with it because once again, they have made a song that emits all the feels while sounding so damn sublime.
Listen below and look for it on The Neighbourhood’s next album announced by Zane to be called The Black And The White coming soon.
THIS. ALBUM. NEEDS. TO. BE. OUT RIGHT NOW!! SO EXCITED!! :D
Simple correction: Black and White is not an album, but a mixtape, so yea….
This mixtape is more than amazing. Jesse’s vocals plus the music and the collabs makes it almost perfect, the only downside in the promo from the Dj’s but the guys from the band said an unedited version of the mixtape will come out eventually.
