The Airplane Boys are a Toronto hip-hop duo, consisting of childhood friends Mannie Seranilla a.k.a Beck Motley, and Jason Drakes a.k.a. Bon Voyage. Often referred to as Electro HipHop, their style includes elements of hip hop, rock, electro, pop and jazz. The group boasts a devoted following in the Toronto area and beyond, owing mainly to their self-produced music videos posted on the internet and their energetic live performances Their debut mixtape, Where’ve You Been? was released May 4th 2011.?

Mannie Seranilla and Jason Drakes met while attending elementary school in the Scarborough area of Toronto. They first came together when Seranilla noticed Drakes writing hip hop lyrics at his desk and invited him to perform in his boy-band style group for an upcoming talent show. They quickly became friends and began writing music together. Their first live performance as a duo was at the 18th birthday celebration of Seranilla’s cousin. While another relative of Seranilla was performing with his jazz band, the two fledgling artists took to the stage and rapped over the music. From there, Seranilla and Drakes continued to write music and perform around the Toronto area under the name Raw Steady.?

In the wake of their mixtape release, The Airplane Boys went on a mini-tour of Ontario, Canada in June of 2011 with fellow Stampede Management artist Snoop Dogg. The tour included stops in London, Bala and Barrie, Ontario.?

In 2009, the group decided to change their name, as people began to confuse them with the Rock Steady Crew, an influential American break-dance group. After some deliberation, they decided to call themselves The Airplane Boys because they thought it had a catchy sound and because both Seranilla and Drakes have a father employed in the airline industry.

In the following years, The Airplane Boys built a following while performing around Toronto and self-producing original music videos for their songs. In early 2011, they signed with Los Angeles artist management company, Stampede Management, and began working on their debut mixtape. Where’ve you Been was released on May 4th, 2011 to significant internet buzz.

The 4th album "Egos & Expectations" dropping May 27th, 2014.
