Los Angeles' band Crash Kings return with the latest follow-up to their widely successful second album with 'Live Nudes'. Teaming up with Pledge Music, the band have the following to say;
"Being an independent band has given us the freedom to do whatever we want whenever we want. As artists that freedom can be the best feeling in the world. It can make us want to run in the streets naked. But that sort of freedom doesn’t come without a price. With your help we would like to bring you a brand new EP of songs we’ve been working on. We’re calling it Live Nudes and here’s why:
When we write a song and feel strong enough about it to take it in the studio, it starts as a “demo” which is just piano, bass, drums and vocals. The demo is just simply the chords and melody of the song and maybe we’ve worked out a few cool parts on the piano, bass and drums. When we record it in a professional studio we nit pick every last detail. We spend hours getting different tones attempting to make the final product a masterpiece. Most of the time that process is well worth the time but sometimes we look back at the demo and think there was just something special about the song in its raw form. So for this EP we’re cutting straight to the chase and recording some songs live in the studio that are just simply piano, bass, drums, and vocals. We’re not recording a lot of overdubs or layers (maybe a harmony vocal here or there). These recordings are honestly just a single take of us playing together raw and live in the studio. There’s an energy that is just tough to duplicate on a recording otherwise."
The album is available for pre-order on 10" vinyl and CD now.
