Deftones are set to release their new album on April 8th. Or at least, that's the rumor. Nothing has been confirmed or denied. An advance stream of the album was supposedly given to a journalist, which seems itself highly unlikely as it would be very early in the promo process.
And April 8th is a Monday, when release dates are often set on a Friday. And the album cover included is purely fan art. But since we know that Eros has been shelved for now, let's use this entry as a placeholder for anything Deftones related.

Yes there is a music forum that has allowed members only access to the low quality file. It is a rip from a vinyl copy so the sound quality is very poor.

I’m sorry guys, I’m one of the idiots who yesterday reported the leak but it was a fuckin’ fake for april’s fool. The excitement made me forget it. I reported when I extracted the archive, and the duration of the songs were like the itunes page. And the singles were legit. When then I decided to listen to the album in all the excitement, I realize it was a well build motherfuckin fake. I didn’t now if it was possible to cancel the leak submit. I guess I deserve the 50points that were taken! So let’s hope in the next days the real deal comes out. Love u all, Giorgio

yup, I’ve been had. I hope this isn’t a band trying to get their stuff out there, because it’s horrible. A couple of the songs passed for bad deftones songs, where the vocals were affected enough to MAYBE pass as Chino. Who goes through that much trouble
Heard a vinyl rip of 3 tracks today. Acid Hologram sounds a bit like Smashing Pumpkins, but sludgier. Gore is really heavy, but a bit repetitive (definitely sounds like Deftones). The “outro” of the song drags out for what feels like an eternity. Phantom Bride is my favorite so far, but it doesn’t really sound at all like the Deftones until the last 45 seconds or so.
The strangest material I’ve heard from the Deftones since SNW. Love their music, but I’m not sure how to feel because it sounds SO different for them. Definitely sounds like a lot of conflict was involved in the process of making/writing the material.

I didn’t get blown away by the songs, but nonetheless they’re good and I believe this album will be a grower on everyone once it gets out in a listenable quality.

Dudes on sharinglungs claim to have all the album, but they only tease us about it and don’t share.

that 320 cd rip is FAKE. the bit rate on the released singles goes up to 320 but the other songs are only 128kbps… according to a spectral analysis there is a 16khz cut off.

it is not cd-rip. same quality with getmetal
the “vinyl rip” is also BS. it sounds like it was recorded off the radio using a tape player. there’s no point in it being VBR when the actual cutoff is at 16khz (128 levels).
listening to something at this dog shit quality will ruin the experience… you’re better off waiting.

The only leak so far has piss poor audio on every track except for P/T and Doomed User. Don’t waste your time downloading the current leak. Give it a few more days. This site really needs a more detailed manner of announcing things. Spent like 2 hours looking the first time they announced the leak only to find it was a false alarm.

Opinion – 6/10 maybe i will like the official release more but I can fully understand what Stephen Carpenter is trying to say.

I don’t think so. From the way it seems, we might have to wait until the official release if we want to hear it with good audio quality. I couldn’t handle the poor audio, so ive yet to hear the non single tracks.
I’ve got the album and while I’ll admit prayers/triangles and doomed user are better quality it’s not like the rest of the album is THAT bad. You can tell it isn’t perfect quality but it’s definitely worth the listen. I absolutely love this album. I liked it on my first play through with is always a great thing.. The more I listen the better it gets. I’d say this is my favorite album by them in years, and I’ve liked them all.
It is THAT bad. If im gonna listen to something i’ve been dying to hear, then im gonna do it right. The other 9 tracks quality is piss poor in comparison to P/T and DU. There’s no oomph in the bass, the guitar work is beyond fuzzy, and Chino’s singing is beyond muffled. I got like 20 seconds into Acid Hologram and had to turn it off, im not going to ruin my experience. I already got the album preordered, so ill just wait till Friday i suppose.
Then.. You aren’t as “dying to hear it” as I was. The album is amazing at shit quality.. So now I’m excited to hear it at full quality. But I’ve heard it.. And I know.

I found one on uploaded.net that was 108 megabytes. I don’t know if anyone screws with that site but I’ve downloaded John Carpenter’s new album as well as After The Burial from there and they have been excellent.

Awesome record! After Prayers/Triangles i was a bit worried (still my least favourite song on the album) but Gore has Koi No Yokan/ Diamond Eyes in it and also some really heavy tracks like Gore and Doomed User. My favourite tracks so far are Doomed User, Hearts/Wires, Pittura Infamante, (L)MIRL and Gore. And we all know a Deftones record only gets better after a few listens. Great album! 9/10 for me.
