Magic Man are a five-piece band from Boston who make melodic, dance-influenced indie rock. Formed in 2010, Magic Man began as a laptop-based duo showcasing Alex Caplow (vocals) and Sam Vanderhoop Lee (guitars and keyboard). This early version of the band released one album, 2010's Real Life Color. Eventually, the group grew into a full-fledged rock band with the addition of Justine Bowe (keyboards), Daniel Radin (bass), and Joey Sulkowski (drums). They released the EP You Are Here in 2013. Magic Man's second full-length album was slated for release in 2014.

“Out Of Mind” Music Video
Magic Man are some of our favorite humans on this earth. They first charmed their way into our hearts and minds as college kids with a collage of rough gem early demos nearly three years ago, but there was never any doubt of the boundless potential possessed by childhood friends, Alex Caplow and Sam Lee. Last year’s You Are Here EP was a massive debut statement of intent and has already spawned one chart-bothering alt radio single in the anthemic “Paris”, and today we welcome the next chapter in Magic Man’s journey. Without further adieu, we’re thrilled to announce Magic Man’s brilliant debut LP, Before The Waves, arriving July 8th via Neon Gold / Columbia as our second official full length album release.
These twelve diamonds in the rough – polished to shine by producer/engineer Alex Aldi – come tailor-made to define your coming summer, rife with weightless promise and reckless optimism. From established fan favorites “Paris”, “Waves” and “Texas” to future anthems like “Apollo” and “Catherine”, it’s triumphant synth fanfare at its most immediate and true. And to ring it in, the band roll out a delicious first taste today with album standout “Out of Mind” and its accompanying boy-meets-world video (below), shot on-location while touring Oklahoma this spring. Preorder is available now HERE, and trust us, this is not a record you want to miss.
this was the bio posted on neon gold records website about the upcoming album :)
