U2 Songs of Experience

U2 is a band from Dublin. Songs of Experience will continue the 2014 era of the band, started with the release of the album Songs of Innocence.

Speaking to The Irish Times, Bono reveals that Songs of Experience is set for a 2016 release. "We’re going to get [Songs Of Experience] out next year. Unusually for us, a lot of the songs are done already.”

U2 have announced the release date for their next studio album. Songs of Experience, the follow-up to 2014’s Songs of Innocence, is out December 1, they revealed in an interview with The New York Times. The record includes the previously shared tracks “The Blackout” and “You’re the Best Thing About Me,” as well as songs they’ve debuted live, like “The Little Things That Give You Away.” The record includes contributions from Royal Blood, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, Jacknife Lee, and Steve Lillywhite. Songs of Experience also features a fleshed-out version of Bono’s contributions to “XXX.” (from Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN.). The Times describes it as “a full-length song about America and its history of welcoming immigrants.”

Speaking with The Times, Bono said “The elections were a shock to the system personally and a shock to the system politically, not just in America but in Europe. This is my lyrical response to both of those shocks. I leaned more on the personal than the political, but the political is there to put the personal songs in the context of time, of history.” The Edge added his thoughts on the LP: “On this record, we went, ‘Is it going to be played by people in a bar in 25 years?’”
