My review (in FFWD weekly): Woman’s Hour play dreamy, super chill pop songs that sound like they should come from a band lazing in the Mediterranean rather than the bustle of London, England. The songs are complacent and wrapped in longing. They make sadness and loneliness sound so transformational by partnering the downcast moods with irresistibly cool beats.

Their seamless combination of synth and guitar warrant comparisons to the aloof sensuality of bands like The xx, Anika and Chromatics. However, Woman’s Hour make something altogether unique. Perhaps it’s the honest and poetic songwriting, or maybe how easy one falls into the music and gets lost in the shimmering melodies, or even the subtle intricacy of the songs that leaves no dull moments.

There are many good tracks on the album, but the first single, “Our Love Has No Rhythm” has to be one of the best songs of the year. It seems more uplifting and devotional than the rest, which center quite squarely on love’s longings.

Conversations provides the perfect summer soundtrack, with glimmering songs paced for relaxation in hot weather and not a single fault to report. It’s all good stuff, from start to finish.
