Vancouver indie pop-rock quartet Young Liars will release their debut album Tidal Wave on June 24 via Nettwerk Records. Formed serendipitously, bassist Andrew Beck, drummer Ty Badali, keyboardist Wesley Nickel and guitarist/singer Jordan Raine forged an album of effervescent melodies and synth textures laid over infectiously danceable beats.
Over the course of a year, the band crafted their sound, an evolution that was “quite labour intensive,” says Andrew Beck. Tidal Wave was recorded at Greenhouse studios in Vancouver with producer Digory Smallz, who worked on their debut EP Homesick Future. “Tidal Wave is about passion,” says Jordan Raine, “how it defines you and how it can destroy you and how sometimes it is so worthwhile you can't help but stick to it, no matter what it means.” A remarkable debut, Tidal Wave is the unified effort of a band who stood on the precipice of their passions and plunged in. The band has played shows alongside Minus the Bear, CSS, STRFKR and headlined showcases at Rifflandia Festival and NXNE.
