Chicago pop-punk trio 7 Minutes In Heaven is a self-made band. There’s no record label paying for their Facebook likes or buying them onto tours, nor is there a team of secret songwriters trying to sculpt the next Radio Disney crossover track for them. 7MIH might play a strain of pop-punk that is geared toward hitting maximum amounts of ears through massive sing-along choruses and ultra-slick pop-rock production, but it doesn’t mean the songs on their new EP, Side Effects, aren’t real. Vocalist/guitarist Timmy Rasmussen explains the story behind Side Effects:
"This record means everything to us. We made ourselves transparent, we made ourselves vulnerable. We wanted to shine light on the effects of fighting against a world that we’re forced to grow up in. We want to spread a message of hope, there is not just one right way to seek happiness. Read between the lines. Every experience is a lesson and when you get knocked down, get back up and keep swinging because no one is holding you back from who you want to be but you."
