At Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A last night (Jan. 22), Chris Stapleton treated an intimate group of country music journalists and execs to a listening party for his forthcoming solo debut album, Traveller, which is set to drop on May 5. And we’ve got to say, you won’t be disappointed. With the whiskey flowing and hot-chicken sliders making the rounds, Chris spoke briefly before unleashing Traveller’s whiskey-soaked soulfullness.
“This record was made standing on the shoulders of friends, family and heroes,” Chris said. “I hope people enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.”
In addition to the listening party, Chris recorded a new version of “Sometimes I Cry” live-to-tape in front of the audience. The track is currently being mastered and will be added to the final track-listing very shortly.
Chris is the former frontman of the Grammy-nominated SteelDrivers, as well as the songwriter behind No. 1 hits “Never Wanted Nothing More” (Kenny Chesney), “Love’s Gonna Make It Alright” (George Strait), “Come Back Song” (Darius Rucker) and “Your Man” (Josh Turner)
