The View are a Scottish indie rock band. They incorporate various styles such as punk, pop, alternative rock, pop punk, powerpop and folk in their music. The View have been active in the music scene since early 2005, supporting more renowned acts including Babyshambles, Primal Scream and The Undertones. The band initially based themselves at The Bayview pub in the Menzieshill district of Dundee, not too far from their native Dryburgh. From this pub, the band took their name. Shortly after they moved to The Doghouse, a respected music venue in Dundee’s city centre, where they came to the attention of local music promoters, management and ever-growing fan-base. The band’s debut single, “Wasted Little DJs”, was released in 2006 and it reached #15 in the UK singles chart on the 13th August 2006. The View released their debut album Hats Off to the Buskers on 22 January 2007, which entered the UK Album Chart at number one the following week. It was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize. Since then, they released three more studio albums: “Which Bitch?” (2009), “Bread and Circuses” (2011), “Cheeky for a Reason” (2012) and one compilation album, “Seven Year Playlist” (2013), consisting mostly of songs usually featuring at their concerts, including some new material from the band.
Ropewalk, fifth studio album by The View, was initially planned to be released on 8 June 2015 but was postponed until 11 September 2015 due to Falconer receiving treatment for an unspecified but ongoing illness.
