While most 18-year-olds will be attending festivals like Glastonbury this summer, English wunderkind Will Joseph Cook will be rockin’ out on their stages. The Kent singer-songwriter has amassed a legion of fans in just the last couple of months thank to the success of his debut EP, 'You Jump I Run', which earned him the top spot on Hype Machine’s charts. Judging by “Beach”, the lead single off his forthcoming 'Proof Enough' EP, the buzz surrounding Cook will only grow louder.
Much like 'You Jump I Run’s strongest track “Message”, this latest number is built on solid pop hooks. Cook cites everything from Darwiz Deez to Nick Cave as influences, so it’s no surprise that hints of folk, blues, and even surf surface here and there, adding to the song’s universal appeal. Perhaps what really seals the deal is the young troubadour’s vocals, which rise and fall ever so gently like a cool, August night’s breeze.
