Upon hearing Iceland/England rock trio Dream Wife’s single “Somebody” earlier this year, I called it “a well-oiled machine worthy of the Strokes but performed with the righteous indignation of Bikini Kill.” That’s a hearty endorsement, and I can offer my continued support for Dream Wife today on the strength of “Fire,” the title track from a new EP out next month also including “Somebody” and an array of remixes.
“Fire” itself is another full-bodied rock song with big guitars and an even huger chorus. It appears to be about navigating new attraction to a frustratingly elusive character: “Do you remember last night there was a fire? Do you remember last night there was a fire? We danced and we screamed and we held each other tight. Do you remember do you remember last night?” Listen below.
