Ethiopian-American singer and songwriter Kelela announced the name and release date for her debut album. The record will be called "Take Me Apart" and it's for release on October 6, 2017 through Warp.
The announcement was marked with a release of the first single from the album, "LMK", and the record itself will contain 14 new tracks.
“Despite it being a personal record, the politics of my identity informs how it sounds and how I choose to articulate my vulnerability and strength,” Kelela said in a statement. “I am a black woman, a second-generation Ethiopian-American, who grew up in the ’burbs listening to R&B, jazz and Björk. All of it comes out in one way or another.”
