of Montreal is an American experimental pop band from Athens, Georgia. It was founded by frontman Kevin Barnes in 1996, named after a failed romance between Barnes and a woman "of Montreal." The band is identified as part of the Elephant 6 collective. Throughout its existence, of Montreal's musical style has evolved considerably and drawn inspiration from numerous 1960s psychedelic pop acts.
Kevin Barnes’ experimental pop group Of Montreal has announced a new album, White is Relic/Irrealis Mood. It’s out March 9 via Polyvinyl. They’ve also shared a new song called “Paranoiac Intervals/Body Dysmorphia.” Listen below. “Two important events occurred during the making of White Is Relic/Irrealis Mood,” Barnes said in a statement via Stereogum. “I became ‘Simulated Reality’ paranoid and I fell in LOVE.” He explained how ’80s “extended dance mixes” inspired the group’s new music, adding, “I also decided to abandon the ‘live band in a room’ approach that I had been using on the recent albums and work more on my own or remotely with collaborators.”
I like them
I really enjoy their sound a lot. I don’t enjoy their look though.
