Technical death metal fans, rejoice! Tasmanian devils Psycroptic have returned to close the three year gap between albums with their latest effort, As the Kingdom Drowns. The album is chock full of enough dizzying instrumental wizardry, blast beats and heavy, chugging riffs to make your head spin.
Vocalist Jason Peppiatt tells Decibel that Psycroptic sought to push their limits when writing and recording As the Kingdom Drowns, without losing the qualities that have allowed the band to thrive for the previous six albums.
“As always with this band we wanted it to have the distinctive sound of a Psycroptic album but wanted to push ourselves further with adding new elements and having a darker vibe than on previous releases. I think we achieved our goal and this is something we are all very proud of!”.
