Noel Gallagher is prepping some new music for his band's upcoming summer tour. On Thursday (May 2) Gallagher announced that he and the High Flying Birds will release the 5-track Black Star Dancing EP on June 14, with the dance-y title track.
"It manages to combine the influences of David Bowie, INXS, U2, Queen, Indeep AND ZZ Top FFS! ... I might have been watching too much Top Of The Pops recently," Gallagher said in a statement announcing the song that bounces along on a funky disco beat as he whisper sings "If not for the mountains/ Tell me who would stand tall/ It's the money you're counting/ And I hope you got it all/ Nature is dancing/ And it makes me sweat," over a throbbing bass line and insistent beat. "Anyway, it's ‘dope’ … not my words, but the words of Nile Rodgers who literally danced in the studio when he heard it!”
The reference to the Chic mastermind makes perfect sense, as the song is a similar to Rodgers' classic fusion of funk and rock, complete with a ripping Gallagher guitar solo on the track the former Oasis mastermind also produced. The EP will include the title track (as well as two remixes of it) and the songs "Rattling Rose" and "Sail On."
It’s cool
