Gojira are back! Following last year’s surprise standalone single Another World, the French metal kings have now officially announced details of their highly-anticipated seventh album, and shared its awesome lead single.
The band’s upcoming LP – the follow-up to 2016’s GRAMMY-nominated Magma – is due out on April 30 via Roadrunner Records, with new single/video Born For One Thing available to check out now.
Of the song, vocalist/guitarist Joe Duplantier explains: “We have to practice detaching ourselves from everything, beginning with actual things. Own less possessions, and give what you don’t need away, because one day we’ll have to let everything go, and if we don’t, we’ll just become ghosts stuck between dimensions.”

I literally came halfway through. The singles make much more sense in the actual context of the album, and honestly, Roadrunner probably picked the worst songs to release early. When i heard Into The Storm i was incredibly scared, because it sounded like this digestable, arena sound was going to be the direction they were aiming for in this album, and probably the rest of their careers. I’m so glad i was completely wrong. This album has a fair share of super digestable/soft songs, but it’s balanced by also having plenty of heavy, groovy riffs that sound straight off their old stuff. Fortitude is a good album.
I agree, I wish they hadn’t released any songs, maybe 1 song, but not half the album. After hearing the full album, it’s such a different vibe and sound than I thought.

Man, this is such an amazing album. I’m loving every minute of it. I’m digging all the songs but my favorite song might be Sphinx. It’s heavy and just gives off this sense of impending doom but the riffs are catchy. Well done guys
This album is a masterpiece.
