You've got to hand it to Mr. Corgan - He's not giving up on The Smashing Pumpkins. He's planning on releasing two albums in 2015. This is the first one, called "Monuments to An Elegy" and while very little info has surfaced so far, we know he's working with former Adore producer Howard Willing. Call him creative, or call him pretentious - He's definitely making up for lost times.
"For those interested in sound, think: ‘guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars;’ but more so on the epic side of things than say, grossly metallic," Billy Corgan writes in the post.
Corgan also elaborated on how their new website will help document the recording process:
Additionally, this stands as the initial post on a new nexus: The Panopticon, which through its simplicity should better address the speed of modern life. A continuing feature, items regarding each day’s recording will be shared that same evening, with song titles, lyrics, poetic impressions, pictures, sound clips, studio gear and the like offered for a circuitous, bird’s eye view of the process as it unfolds.

“Thrilled to report that we now have our album in total, as top songs are arranged and set for drum tracking. So over the next 3 days I’ll be focusing on vocal arrangements, lyrics, and tweaking the overall aesthetics of the record as I hope it shall be. At least then I’ll be able to share a different narrative for a spell, and get off this merry-go-round we’ve all been on.

Mixed feelings about the first single. It’s very radio-commercial friendly, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing – But it’s still very Oceania-like. I was hoping for a new sound. Still, I’m hopeful for both of the albums, even if they might be the last two SP LPs.
One And All sounds amazing. I saw them at William & Mary Hall in ’94 and this song brings me back to that show. Can’t wait for the drop.
