Sia revealed that while she wanted to write music for other artists rather than putting out more albums under her own name, her record contract included one more album. The album's title, This Is Acting, refers to the fact that most of the tracks were intended for other artists.
She recently spoke to NME where she said, "I was planning to be a pop song writer for other artists. But my publishing deal was as an artist so I had to put one more album out. I didn't want to get famous so I kept all the songs I wanted and had a lot of fun making it."
"I'm calling it 'This Is Acting' because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn't go in thinking 'this is something I would say'. It's more like play-acting. It's fun."
Since some of the track were intended for other acts, it's safe to presume that it features at least a few pop and radio friendly tracks. No official release date or track list have been revealed.
This is bound to be good.
Sia’s got me pushing imaginary buttons with this cover… (please, do get the pun).
Walk away from me, lover.
this will be good!
Looking forward to this, the singles sound promising
soo excited !
Pumped! 1000 Forms of Fear was full of bops!!
Reaper is perfect.
I bet this leak report is fuxking fake
This leak is 100% legit, this site is trustable. I found it on the GETLEAKS site as reported here. Don’t talk bull**** without trying it first.
Turns out to be true. Sorry :)
The leak report is legit, good quality and deluxe version either.
On the album: I gave a 7/10 (but better said a full 6,5). It’s a good, rather solid pop production and if you like Sia’s previous two efforts, there you go again.
However, probably she took the overtly commercial, radio frendly high road or probably just collected songs for others – as usual- therefore lacking of any adventurness. This time too she relied over the usual sounds, the usual structures, themes and atmosphere. Just the usual Sia.
Good anyway and fully deserving to be listened, will go through your ears quite nicely for something but ultimately leaving not too much, not anything “new”. Also, the singles released till now do serve as a good representation of the whole project and as well serve in my opinion as asumary of what I stated above.
Nonetheless, I personally would have preferred a step forward from the catchy-good “A 1000 forms of fear” and a little more differentiation between the songs.
Sounds like to me it will 8 or 9 out of 10. I don’t judge things on originality, but I know most critics do (like Star Wars 7). Nope, if I like I like and I want more. From the 6 singles thus far I’m leaning towards 8 out of 10. Thanks for your review. Can’t wait till Friday morning/.
you’re welcome!
well obviously it’s all subjective. The album, on its own, is good; that’s for granted.
