The band recently revealed the album's lead single, "Lost and Confused," a demanding, intricate and bludgeoning cut available to stream below.
The song offers a taste of Kylesa's expanding influences on Exhausting Fire, which, per a press release, incorporates New Wave, spaced-out Americana, Eighties goth and death rock.
Kylesa set about writing Exhausting Fire by plumbing a trove of riffs and ideas laid down before and after their relentless touring behind 2013's Ultraviolet. The new LP was recorded in the Jam Room in Columbia, South Carolina and produced solely by guitarist and singer, Phillip Cope.
"After all these years of experimenting with different styles and sounds, we've really developed our own thing and I can faithfully say that we sound like us," fellow singer/guitarist Laura Pleasants added in a statement. "With this album, we've successfully made a record that incorporates all the elements we've always played with into a record that works on its own."
Kylesa will support Exhausting Fire with a sprawling North American tour that gets under way in late August and continues through November. A full list of dates is below.
