Nashville band Promised Land Sound is gearing up for the release of their sophomore album, For Use and Delight, a full-length recorded at Black Dirt Studio in upstate New York. Things get going with upbeat harmonies from the very first track, “Push and Pull (All the Time),” and the band follows it up slow-burner “She Takes Me There.” It’s immediately clear that this LP touches on an assortment of styles, with standout tracks being “Golden Child,” a psychedelic rock number that could have just as easily been released 40 years ago, and the ironically named “Dialogue,” an Americana jam with no lyrics.
